Talk:Strike Mission: Shiverpeaks Pass
Splitting the page?[edit]
Currently this page serves both as a) a page for area of Grothmar Valley (which can be visited during story step A Race to Arms as well as during Strike Mission of the same name) and b) a page for aforementioned Strike Mission. For the first purpose there isn't enough information about story instance. For the second it ignores the fact that Mission also takes place in Bitter Horn area. Thus I think it's worth considering splitting this page into two. Nasurelin (talk) 12:45, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- I disagree with splitting, it is really unnecessary. Everything you said can be added into the intro or notes or anywhere else on the page. See precedent: Sun's Refuge, which is both an area and an instance, but uses only one article. ~SimeTalk 13:11, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Sun's Refuge is only ever an instance, and as such more equivalent to Salma District for instance, rather than to this. I'm personally in favour of adding another article for it as an area, because both Bitter Horn and Shiverpeaks Pass (area) are part of both A Race to Arms and Shiverpeaks Pass (the Strike Mission), but I'd keep the Strike Mission as the main article. - Sun's Refuge is also visited during story and is an area in the map, I don't see how it is any different. ~SimeTalk 14:45, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- The difference is that Sun's Refuge (the area) encompasses the entirety of Sun's Refuge (the instance), while Shiverpeaks Pass (the area) is only a part of Shiverpeaks Pass (the Strike Mission), the least important part at that, considering the bossfight takes place in the other part. I suppose we don't really have a precedent on instances named after one area but taking place in several, so I can't really bring up an entirely equivalent example, but Guild
MissionsPuzzles might at least provide an example where an area and an instance named after that area aren't completely equivalent and each got their own article. SabSparrow (talk) 15:03, 6 October 2019 (UTC)- Splitting area page from thing of the same name that needs a guide is actually fairly common. See many of the jumping puzzles or mini dungeons. Additionally, things don’t always need to be split: Vexa’s Lab is both area and mini-dungeon page, because the entirety of that area is just the mini-dungeon. However, neither applies here, according to the achievements, the strike mission’s full name is “Shiverpeaks Pass Strike Mission” not “Shiverpeak Pass”. - Doodleplex 00:49, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for all opinions. My original reason in favor of splitting was that neither area nor mission is completely contained in the other one. I agree splitting isn't necessary, although personally I'm still in favor of doing it. Now I only don't know how conclusion is reached on GW2W in cases of differing opinions like this. To split or not to split?
- On the topic of official name; API uses Strike Mission: Shiverpeaks Pass [1] and, if I remember correctly, the same is displayed: on mission's pop-up when approaching Shiver Gate, on its loading screen and as player location in the guild panel. In some (all?) of those cases with addition of (Public) or (Squad). --Nasurelin (talk) 12:56, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Grothmar Valley Chest Loot[edit]
I have extensive evidence that the chests on the little JP at the beginning now contain the exact amount of the following loot:
- 1 Empyreal Fragment
- 1 Unid Gear. Common is the default, but there is a chance at uncommon or rare.
- 5 Volatile Magic
I got different loot in Grothmar, so this only applies to the ones in the strike instance. I have confirmed the loot for the strike mission instance chests in many many instances over a long period. I will note this difference on the chest page as well. AnastashaRomanov (talk) 05:33, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
- i just dropped an ascended weapon chest from one of those chests. not sure how and if this should be edited so i just wanted to leave this information here. i have video proof of it, but your spam filter seems to block my youtube link when i want to post it here --128.0.151.217 07:53, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
Bonus chests after clear[edit]
The text states that you get the bonus chests "every clear", but as can be easily tested, that is not true at least when repeating the Strike on the same character. Is it limited to once per day, as with all other bouncy chests, like from World Bosses etc? --BelleroPhone (talk) 16:52, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
- I double-checked this and the bouncy chests neither reappear for the same, nor for other characters after the first clear. I think the original author had the two mixed up, since it is the lootable Grothmar chests which can be opened every time. --BelleroPhone (talk) 15:18, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

Spelling mistake: "After selecting one of the modes, either Public (only available somtimes)" should be "After selecting one of the modes, either Public (only available sometimes)"
