Notes[edit]

  • I tried to organise them by story order. Justice of the Blade doesn't seem to have a clear time relation to Conservation of Magic and Anomalous Occurrences, so I went by release date.
  • Not sure about exactly when Rift Stalkers takes place, as I'm not that far into the story yet, and don't want to get more spoilers than I already got 😅
  • Writing out the episode numbers looks a bit clumsy, but it's also important information (can't expect people to memorise the name of all chapters). -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 14:48, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

Knight of the Thorn[edit]

Wong8888, why did you move Knight of the Thorn? Chronologically it takes place earlier than the rest. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 13:31, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

They probably moved it based on the release date, in which case it would be correct if we weren't ordering it based on the story order. ~Sime 13:40, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
I guess that's the case, so I moved it back for now. Also now that proceeded a bit in the story, it seems like the Rift Stalkers events of Portal Panic can take place starting with A Star to Guide Us, but I will wait until I finish War Eternal before I change that line. (But if someone who is further into the story wants to change it, feel free to.) -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 13:56, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I just follow Introduced date which write there, if date is wrong or have another order to sort it, please feel free to tell me if you want. -- Wong8888 (talk) 15:25, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
It's organised in order of where it ties into the main story. Knight of the Thorn takes place right after HoT's end, while the rest all take place later. This ordering is meant to help new players see when it's best to do the various side stories for the most coherent narrative experience. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 22:28, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Return to earlier content[edit]

Where do we fit these? Atm it's a bit inconsistent, LS1 being at the beginning of the list, Current Events and Living World Return at the end. I guess Current Events makes sense at the end bc of those post-IBS dialogues, but Living World Return chapters would probably make more sense where they originally belong in the chronology, as they don't reference later content. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 10:02, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Not really an anwser, but what about putting it into a table with separated release and in-game chronology columns? Sure, it doesn't solve the question about the initial order (probably by release), but it allows the wiki user to sort on their own and obtain their wanted order. --Tolkyria (talk) 12:05, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Lore-wise/chronologically the Return events belong AFTER the Icebrood Saga, as mentioned by Gorrik and Taimi. Technically, so does the LWS1 achievements now, as explained by the Mist Stranger... though I am fine with them being placed at the start with the current wording. ~Sime 12:43, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing out the Mist Stranger, haven't seen that dialogue yet. Still, the whole Return is just an attempt from ANet to keep players busy with replaying old content until EoD drops, it's not like they added anything new to those chapters, just slapped some achievements on top 😅 So imho those entries would better fit the original chronology. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 13:52, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
A table could be a good idea, maybe some people want to play them in release order 🤷‍♂️ Though I'd still put the Living World Return chapters in separate rows. (I don't think future players will replay them again after IBS, just take them in stride as they go through the Living World episodes.) -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 13:52, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Well, I suppose both are true (it is for players to return to the older stories while there is a lore reason after the Icebrood Saga). I am sure we can find the best solution to present both things, though. ~Sime 13:58, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Tried to come up with a way to put all that info into a table here. Let me know if you think there's a better way. I wanted to use a more reader-friendly date formatting, but couldn't find a way while still keeping it sortable. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 15:44, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
The spacing and icons makes it hard to read to me. Something simpler like on short story would probably be sufficient. Current version feels more legible atm though. Konig (talk) 00:30, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Hmm that page could do with season and episode markings as well, organising the entries by timeline and making it all sortable 🤔 But let's figure out this page first.
I think the icons worked for breaking up the different data segments, but how about now that I removed them? I also reduced paragraph breaks into linebreaks within cells to see if it helps. I wonder if there's a way we could use abbreviations with hover tooltips for the season titles to reduce the large amount of repeated text? -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 13:04, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Current formatting seems more readable and fits the note section better. —Kvothe (talk) 23:48, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
"Hmm that page could do with season and episode markings as well," Disagreed. That's the main thing which makes your sandbox suggestion hard to read to me. It already denotes when it takes place, and is sorted by publication. That's all it really needs, IMO, since publication also usually matches timeframe placement.
