I think the skill should be at Sanctuary; the kodan thing can be moved to Sanctuary (settlement)/(location). Skills should be given priority. pling User Pling sig.png 20:29, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

I approve this motion. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 20:30, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Same. +1 - Lucian Talk. Shadowborn 20:31, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Name the other one Kodan Sanctuary, maybe? -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 20:32, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Kodan sanctuary*. (Oh dear. Here we go again...) pling User Pling sig.png 20:33, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Sounds good. (@Pling)-- Shew 20:33, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I much prefer Pling's idea. Capitalisation and all. --Odal talk 20:35, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps disambig page at "Sanctuary" leading to Sanctuary (settlement) and Sanctuary (skill). Aqua (talk)(contribs) 20:36, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I'm not sure if sanctuary in this case would be a proper noun. (I'm not explicitly referring to ArenaNet's usage, though.)
Sanctuary will refer to the skill in the majority of cases. GWW does the same - the skill never has a disambig identifier (i.e. brackety bit). pling User Pling sig.png 20:38, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
If the article becomes Kodan sanctuary and the in-game is Kodan Sanctuary, could always move it. Right now it seems to be a better choice to follow capitalization that we have used for other pages, both GWW and this one.. All in my opinion of course. - Lucian Talk. Shadowborn 20:41, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
"Kodan Sanctuary" is just the name of the concept art. The settlements themselves are just called "sanctuaries."-- Shew 20:42, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Also agree with move. EiveTalk 20:43, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Support this move. - Infinite - talk 21:14, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I disagree. My thoughts can be found here, which is more orientated for the, imo, terrible suggestion of "Kodan Sanctuary" but does include my thoughts on what to do with this. -- Konig/talk 22:43, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Question about the skill[edit]

The skill description isn't very specific. If it just prevents enemies from getting to you, it is essentially no better than ring wards-- does Sanctuary also block projectiles? There must be SOME reason it's an elite. --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 20:44, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

I assume it blocks projectiles too. ShadowRunner 20:44, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
The content was taken from the (currently still ongoing) IRC Q&A between Guru and devs; this is all the detail they gave. pling User Pling sig.png 20:45, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

moved from Talk:Sanctuary (elite)

Sanctuary (skill) already exists. Which should we use?-- Shew 20:19, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Whichever fits with the naming conventions of the other elites. --Odal talk 20:20, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Skill, not elite imo. - Infinite - talk 20:21, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
As far as I know, this is the only skill which shares a name with another article. I think (skill) works better as (elite) could give the impression that there's a non-elite verion. ShadowRunner 20:22, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
(Skill) it should be then. --Odal talk 20:23, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Skill sounds good. Retracting this, see Talk:Sanctuary_(skill) Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 20:24, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
my user page contains (or is entirely, as it is as of this writing) a [transcript] of the IRC discussion. --Falseprophet 18:03, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Description[edit]

The description section is misleading - it looks like a verbatim copy of the in-game description, but it isn't. I think the description header should go, and the description integrated with the introduction; in other words, how the previous version of the article was formatted. pling User Pling sig.png 18:24, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Note that a handful of other skills were formatted disregarding verbatim quotes. I merely continued that line. (Note those other edits were not mine). :) - Infinite - talk 18:44, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Didn't one of the articles (sorry don't remember which one) say that this skill provided healing to those inside of it? Ramei Arashi 04:53, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
On IRC it was said you could enter to "regenerate health".
Bear in mind that as enemies can't follow you inside; it must effectively remove you from combat. So you'd regenerate health anyway (persumably). I realize they'll be doing real descriptions a lot closer to release but... can be confusing. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 21:35, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

In http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWAlT8XpGG4 you see him pop a sanctuary and run through it (towards the end of the vid); it seems he was suffering from DoT of some sort, or maybe enemies attacked right before he got in, but in any case the text "Invulnerable" popped up a couple of times in place of damage numbers.67.181.180.101 17:37, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

So basically, this is the defense against an elite crapstorm?[edit]

Sound like guardians are pretty much mandatory. I wonder if we'll be seeing two guardians in every group. Greep 17:38, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

we have no information about length / size / cooldown etc. so maybe this'll stay one for 5 secs with a 6 mins cooldown! --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 21:58, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
It is an elite skill, so it's almost definately the standard 720 Greep 22:08, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Take note that it really depends on whether the party favors defense or offense. They could just as easily go with an elementalist and tornado-trap some enemies to win the match. It really sets out a lot of options for strategy, too. :D 98.23.17.13 00:53, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Vs Area of Effect[edit]

In one of the Tournament videos vs ANet it was seen that AoE can bypass this skill. Specifically the skill firewall was used to damage those hiding within a placed Sanctuary. I don't have the referenced video or time, but someone should be able to hunt it down fairly easily. -- Blue Phoenix User Blue Phoenix Phoenix inverted.jpg 00:02, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

If the intent of this skill is to completely prevent those inside from being able to use skills, allow them to regenerate health, and prevent them from taking ANY damage then applying Invulnerability would prevent AoE damage from bypassing the skill. -- Blue Phoenix User Blue Phoenix Phoenix inverted.jpg 00:18, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi.
We are not ArenaNet. If you have suggestions for either game, please go here, and suggest them in a way that ArenaNet can avail of your ideas without fear of legal backlash.
You will be able to log in to that wiki using the account you made here.

Whenever an ANet rep reads the wiki it can be passed along. They've responded to posts on this wiki before. -- Blue Phoenix User Blue Phoenix Phoenix inverted.jpg 21:49, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

No longer an elite?[edit]

Is this skill no longer an elite? See this video at 2:55 [2] --Spura 11:18, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Nice find!
Power creep sure is starting early. :P User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 10:23, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
You can also see: recharge 120, duration 10 sec, range 120(obviously bubble radius), healing 140. --Spura 11:18, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
I like this more as a utility. If the bubble was bigger I would have kept it as an elite. Love the animation. Go Guardian go! 70.44.197.217 01:44, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
The bubble used to be SIGNIFICANTLY bigger. At least quadruple the size, when it was an elite. -- DrakeWurrum 02:06, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

Ballista[edit]

Not that its surprises me, but I just successfully tested that this does not block the projectiles from Ballistae. Puk 10:46, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

There was an update to remove the ability for Sanctuary and other skills to block siege weapons.--Relyk 03:55, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
I don't think the note is relevant anymore. Siege weapons and other unblockable attacks can pass through any player-made protections. Mediggo (talk) 15:56, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
