Didn't get one from NSS, but did get one each for all the caladons, the metrica, the other gendarrin one, faucets, trolls end, pirates, portsmott, skipping stones, and crimson plateu. I got one of these from every Orrian chest I opened in Malchor's Leap and Cursed Shore. These were all ordinary chests found next to statues, such as the Grenth statue near Wren, or in various "sacred" locations such as the Royal Tombs and the site where the archmage boss appears near Caer Shadowfain. It seems that not all Grand/Splendid/Magnificent chests contain these. Being somewhat jumping challenged, I've been seeking alternatives. While the Splendid Chest at Wurmhowl Spikes (Wayfarer) and the Grand Chest in Provernic Crypt (Gendarran) had them, the Splendid Chests in Earthlord's Gap (Kessex) and Beggar's Burrow (Queensdale) did not. I still need the asura and sylvari ornaments, so I'll report back the results for the non-jp chests I check for those. BrettM (talk) 19:02, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

I guess I was spoiled by the Orrian chests, then. Got the gold ball out of the first basic chest I opened there, and all of them are still giving me grubby packages. But now I'm confused. I got the tinsel ornament out of a chest in Iron Marches (Chaos Crystal Cavern jp). I didn't really pay attention to the model of the chest, since I was just so relieved to reach it after four hours of failure, but, based on the clues, it must actually be asura rather than charr style despite being in an Ascalon zone. I'm guessing I need to be looking for a second charr-style chest in Ascalonian territory to get the green ball and have no need to go looking for chests in an asura area now. True? Yes. The model, rather than the location, determines most of the drops. For example, the second chests in Langmar's Estate is one of those Krytan chests with a "waves" design, and so it drops the krytan piece of enchanted map. And the chest in Vexa's lab has the asura model, so it drops the asura grubby package and the Maguuma map piece. Think of it as chests being like monsters that you "kill" by opening them, when you loot them a few of the drops will be determined by the area, but most by the type of chest. You may have opened one you got from an Asura-style chest, or that chest may have a wrong drop table set. MithTalk 20:30, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

No, I got a package at the top of the Vizier's Tower in Orr and immediately opened it. I just opened an Asuran chest and got no ornament (in Fireheart) from the package.--Fogeltje (talk) 21:04, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

The chest on top of the Vizier's Tower is a floating Asura chest (it spawns after the event). The dropped ornament depends on the style of chest, which only most of the time corresponds to the location. --Tera (talk) 21:20, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

The chest next to the veteran at Hope Falls (I'd recommend), the jumping puzzle Buried Archives or at Forgotten Stream. --aRTy 17:47, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

I already found the Buried Archives jumping puzzle earlier today, but thanks for the tip :) I also finally understand my own confusion. The chest design style rather than the geographical location seems to be the deciding factor. I just got the tinsel one from Goemm's Lab JP in Metrica, which happens to be in the asuran area, but IDK enough about JPs (cause I hate 'em) to be able to tell what kind of chest is which style. 32.212.104.223 21:00, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Geekfox, you wrote it's "unusually rare" chance at a trader express. I just got one today in an MGP. Perhaps not so unusual?

Since Wintersday 2014, I've probably looted over 100 Jumping Puzzle chests that contained a Mysterious Grubby Package with junk ornaments. Few days ago, one came out as a Trading Post Express instead of a junk ornament. Seeing you also got the Trading Post Express from the package as well, it might just be a rare chance than unusual.
