So a caterpillar-like sea-creature and a race of other insect-like sea creatures became a giant menacing sharp-toothed thing which we only ever see the head of? Interesting. -- Konig/talk 20:27, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

anywayz I love it! :D --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 22:10, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
meeeh - Leviathan, is a sea monster referred to in the Tanakh and the Bible. In Demonology, Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper (see Hellmouth). The word leviathan has become synonymous with any large sea monster or creature - leviathan monsters in factions were sea monsters Getefix 20:54, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
My comment was in reference to the fact that a Leviathan already existed in the GW universe, not that the Factions leviathans weren't sea monsters. -- Konig/talk 22:46, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
That's a long way from home and a lot of evolution for 250 years. --SirrushUser Sirrush sig.jpg 23:01, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
evolution huh? maybe they swam there and to cope with the changes, it adapted, mutations in the DNA could have also played a part in it, research your A level biology :P Getefix 21:19, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Highly unlikely considering the drasticness of the changes. It's like saying a large centipede can evolve into a small whale in 250 years (best comparison). Just can't happen. It's most likely just a different species with the same name given based purely on the fact that they're large-arse sea creatures. -- Konig/talk 22:19, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Its a fantasy world guys. One where people raise the dead, shoot fire balls frim there hands, and giant reptiles can turn other creatures into giant crystal monsters.--Will Greyhawk 08:37, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Go google abyssal gigantism. Darke 02:07, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

For me it looks like champion of Jormag from Drakkar lake. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.230.175.180 (talk).

Firstly, it looks nothing like it (missing the side-mouth "fin/fang" things), secondly, Anet explicitly stated its unrelated to any Elder Dragon when the manifesto trailer was released. Konig/talk 18:45, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Any chance we will see this one in that Lost Shores new content..? --83.21.79.198 20:29, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Naming[edit]

Is the name "Leviathan" an official term or not? Earlier revisions of this article state that "Leviathan is the name given to[...]", but doesn't say by whom the name was given. We know in lore that there is a creature called the Leviathan, because Cobiah Marriner killed one at Maw and Pride - but since that PoI is outside of the map, we don't know if that creature is the same as this one (because as far as I can tell, the name isn't official). The only thing we know of officially named "Leviathan" is this concept art, which doesn't resemble the creature on this page at all and is likely to be a minion of the DSD (fitting the description of "tentacled horrors"). --Santax (talk · contribs) 08:27, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Stealing Light - "Elli: Help! Save me! I've been eaten by a vicious leviathan!" She stands within one of those skeletons on Malchor's Leap. You can actually look at the Maw and Pride PoI, btw, it's just that the PoI itself is outside of the instance boundaries. Konig 09:29, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
