Merge[edit]

Disagree. The two NPCs are completely different. Different name, different weapon and skills, different location (one's in the Dream of Dreams, in a personal story step, the other's in the open world), and different NPC ranks. The only similarity is shared model and - arguably - lore. Konig 05:34, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Ok, so which other Risen guardian of the Gates of Arah on the Promenade of the Gods wearing Orrian armour does this article refer to, then? We don't have separate articles for the Suspicious Figure and Scarlet Briar because they have different names, locations and appearances, and because one is in a living story instance and the other is in the open world, do we? We don't have a different article for each individual appearance of Logan Thackeray, do we? And either way, you shouldn't remove the merge tag before discussion has even taken place. --Santax (talk · contribs) 10:24, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
If the NPCs have different names, we don't merge them. That's standard naming policy for NPC articles. Don't use the merge tag as a reason to revert. On a similar note, discussion is easier if a reason is given in the merge tag .--Relyk ~ talk < 11:55, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Difference between Scarlet Briar and Suspicious Figure is that it's the same figure in lore and mechanics. This figure holds no proof of being the same figure, and more importantly holds entirely different mechanics. Konig 13:07, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Relyk: I don't think the merge tag has a parameter for giving a reason? It just links to the talk page where the discussion is located if I add another one.
Scarlet and the Mysterious Figure have entirely different mechanics! One teleports around, and the other engages in combat. Plus, we don't have different pages for all the hologram versions of Scarlet, which have yet another set of mechanics (and possibly a different name). I don't understand the uncertainty in this being the same figure as the Risen High Wizard, what reason do you have to think otherwise? As I said, they're both Risen, both guardians of the Gates of Arah, both situated on the Promenade of the Gods, and both wearing Orrian armour - the only NPC to do so. There is zero doubt in my mind that they are the same figure. --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:34, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
RTFM, there is a parameter for a merge reason. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png
Come on Ish, there's no need to be rude, it was an honest mistake. --Santax (talk · contribs) 19:03, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
Scarlet teleports around during invasions... Technically speaking that's scripting and not combat mechanics but I digress. Same person. The holograms, imo, should be different articles if they aren't.
As for same/different... They're fundamentally different far more than Scarlet. One is in the Dream of Dreams... Not the Promenade of the Gods. Konig 19:11, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
I vote that they should be handled separately. NPCs should be distinguished not by rank or place or model, but by behavior. Imagine if you're some newbie wandering in Orr, see the group event, want to know tactics for the boss and read "or, it's easy, I can probably solo it", while in reality... Well, back to the topic. They use different weapons and skills, serve different purposes, have different loot and different names, that is enough to not merge the articles, period. MalGalad 22:12, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
And for that matter... Whoever said there can be only one highlan gate guard? Konig 23:59, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
I disagree with the merge. I think both sides in the arguments have strong points. The reason the skills are different can be explained by scaling (the world boss skills are typical for a world boss and is likely not to be used by an instance boss cause it would make the fight too difficult. Besides, Shadow of the Dragon uses different skills in fighting the nightmare then during the world summon. So thats not a valid argument. Lore doesn't make them the same, but they also don't make them different. So as said. both sides have a good point. Why do I still disagree wit hthe merge?? cause the Gate Guardian page is a stub on key elements like ability's. This means that after the merge it can get very confusing and make people think that the gate guardian could blink.82.169.87.197 16:00, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

I disagree[edit]

they use different skills, different ranks and different weapons. The only thing thats same about them is the appearance.

A Light in the Darkness[edit]

I dunno what other versions there are, but the one in A Light in the Darkness looks like a ghost (except in the GUI where the appearance is of a create with an open faced helmet). image. Unshakeable + Defiance were the two icons to popup during the encounter, and he also knocks down after a slow bashing animation. Moves really slowly as said. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:39, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
