In the screenshot shown here, there are swimming dogs, so it is possible that the pet is considered amphibious. I didn't want to put this on the page because it is speculation, but I did want it mentioned somewhere. EiveTalk 07:03, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

That looks like shallow water to me, so they might actually just be,... Walking. --Naoroji User Naoroji Golem - Green.jpg 07:06, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
It's butt-high to a character. If a dog can stand in that, then I want it as a pet. :P EiveTalk 08:18, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
These dogs are great danes. Some of them are bigger than humans in real life. Chriskang 09:18, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Many dogs are well-known to be very good swimmers. Some bears are amphibious in GW2 as well. Some bears, like the bush dog, are very similar to dogs. I think we can expect at least some breeds will be amphibious. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 17:51, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
"that looks like shallow water to me, so they might actually just be,... Walking"
/agree - the people there are walking and 1-2 look to be running. If characters don't have to swim in the water, I'd say all pets can deal with it also, for the sake of simplicity.
Those pets which can't swim may appear to do so in shallow water for the sake of not making the game look lolbad. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 20:44, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Drakehound[edit]

Just watched one of the videos. It shows a dog called a Juvenile Krytan Drakehound. From an interview we know that juvenile animals will be charmable and so I assume the juvenile name remains until it has progressed to a more adult form through levelling.

Therefore the name of the dog is surely Krytan Drakehound. --Aresinferno 11:02, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Ranger pet takes Ranger's level though. Ramei Arashi 16:44, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
It does? I don't recall that. -- Konig/talk 21:38, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
"A ranger's pet gets its level from its master, which determines their basic attack, armor, and health." Source: http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/ranger/ Arshay Duskbrow 21:54, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Either way it still gains levels. My comment was that charmable pets most likely lose the name juvenile and so the name would simply be Krtyan Drakehound. --Aresinferno 18:02, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

What breeds would you like to see?[edit]

Obviously, as stated above the "Krytan Drakehound" is modeled on the Great Dane. But what other dog breed lookalikes would you care to see? Personally, I'd love to see Greyhounds, Huskies and Great Pyrenees. Arshay Duskbrow 19:23, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Personally? I'd like to see some labradors--definitly amphibious. Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 01:56, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
There is no guarantee that there are other breeds. There is a possibility but perhaps in the GW world the dog is known as a drakehound. I know it wouldn't make sense seeing as factions has the celestial dog and other dog-named things and the book mentions a cat. --Aresinferno 18:06, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm prety sure they've called it a dog officially somewhere; also, it is a category of Amphibious pets, and each such category--in amphibious, terrestrial, or aquatic--has multiple variations of the samecreature, e.g. polar bear, brown bear, etc. Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 18:17, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
*sniffles*I'd like to see cats as well as dogs. In dogs, my favorite is the cocker spaniel. Second would be Golden Retriever. Although, I wonder in raccoons (interesting creatures, but not one that I'd want to get close to again lol.) Ariyen 22:11, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Whether they call it dog or not, they should put wolves in the same category. It would probably be best if they called it 'canines' though.--173.55.48.60 01:08, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Yorkshire Terrier. They could yap at foes and bite their ankles. —smøni 01:15, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Absolutly need to have Alsatians (with a new name obviously, as I don't think that there would be a dog in GW named after somewhere in Germany, lol). Also, as a personal choice, I'd love to see Boradors (Border Collie Ladrador cross [1]) like this one. User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 13:10, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Well, they can't have EVERY dog breed. Some of you are going to be disapointed. Most of you actually. I personally am going more towards a wild animal type companion for my ranger, rather then the canine.--Will Greyhawk 23:37, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Hyena[edit]

Im not totally sure but as far as I know, Hyenas are neither Canine nor Feline. I know that as far as the game is concerned, it makes little difference but just thought I'd mention it. User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 15:21, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
