Bug or just badly implemented railroading?[edit]

[SPOILERS AHOY] At the vent, you get three options -- Talk quest choice tango.pngDrop the crystal, Talk quest choice tango.pngDon't drop the crystal, and Talk end option tango.pngEnd dialogue. The story UI also explicitly says "choose or refuse to drop the crystal". All this seems to imply that there will be story consequences for both options, but nothing's happening for me when I refuse; it just unceremoniously closes the dialogue window without any reaction from NPCs, as if I'd clicked on the literal "end dialogue" option. This behaviour has persisted through daily reset and relogging. It's unclear if this is a bug or intended. —Idris User Idris signature.png 07:37, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

[Even bigger spoilers] I chose the not drop option, and it made me detonate it on the surface, still killing everyone down there. I had a bit of dialogue with Rytlock, but don't remember it. DJemba (talk) 07:45, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
Interesting, sounds like I am bugged then, because my story isn't progressing at all when I select this option. Will add a bug note. —Idris User Idris signature.png 07:51, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
I refused then Rytlock dropped the bomb in there. —Kvothe (talk) 10:17, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
I also had what Djemba wrote about up above; I chose to refuse to drop, and it acted like I detonated it anyway.. I don't know if it's bugged or it's supposed to do that? But it made it seem very unclear to me whether I had my character legitimately try to not detonate, or if it's a glitch, or if no matter what you choose, it gets detonated. Does Rytlock choose to drop it then, as Kvothe says? I didn't see anything that made me think he suddenly had the grenade, but it's past 5 am so I'm tired.Muirellthe Moon Geode.png 12:10, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
I also had the bug that chosing not to do anything closes the window, but you can just interact with the vent again. Technically, it doesn't block progress, you just have to decide to drop it yourself to progress. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 00:04, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
I too chose 'not drop', then Rytlock walked past the vent, fiddled with some imaginary object - the crystal maybe..? - then walked back to me. An unpleasant explosion was then heard below. So I think whatever you do, the 'bomb' gets chucked down the vent.. Honnaja 09:28, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Feedback 2020/05/31[edit]

[MORE SPOILER] On "Ordnance Recovered from Submarines" - This is easy to figure out but I thought it should be in here under walk-through. At a sunken submarine, hit "f" to open. Five boxes will appear in place of your left side skills. One will be a keg like object (sorry, I already finished it and now can't remember its name). Click it and a new set of boxes will appear with that item in a different spot. It will happen 5 times and you only have to not delay in clicking the keg to collect the ordnance. It's the same mechanic as lighting the furnace in Grothmar Valley. SarielV 20 x 20px 03:15, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
Easy to figure out right up until you have the skill bar hidden outside of combat -- thanks for this, and I think it's definitely worth mentioning on the actual page. --Praecantator (talk) 05:41, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Unique dialogue[edit]

There is unique dialogue if you are an iron legion charr, Smodur asks you to remember your training when first speaking with him, and points out you've been given a direct order from your imperator when asked to drop the crystal. Worth including? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 92.11.79.81 (talk).

Yes, standard practice is to record all dialogue heard during the mission, even if only a specific race/profession gets to hear it. Variant lines are formatted like so:
<Character name>: Uhhh I'm not sure if this is a good idea, Smouldy.
(If Iron Legion charr)
Smodur the Unflinching: Drop the crystal bro, you gotta do it cause we're in the same club.
(Otherwise)
Smodur the Unflinching: Drop the crystal, pretty please? I'll be your friend!

I am wondering if there is unique dialog for other races too. In the place where the wiki currently says:

   If charr:
<Character name>: This can't be who we are. Not again.
   otherwise:
<Character name>: If we become the monster, we’ve already lost.

My character is a sylvari and instead of "If we become the monster, we've already lost." Instead it says "It isn't winning if we become monsters in the process." Does anyone else see that on a Sylvari character? For that matter, does anyone see something different than the above? Kaele Forester (talk) 04:11, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
