Cosmetic?[edit]

I'm not so sure. The Claw of Jormag's attacks suggest that they increase cold damage.

Since we now know that the base type is related to the skin, it should be easy to check this using a Steady sword with a FDS skin applied versus one without. This would have to be tried against a variety of enemies. I don't expect to see a great deal of variance here, but this game is all about incremental advantages anyways. May as well get that extra 3-5%. 50.121.0.178 15:38, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

Claw of Jormag's thing only refers to his ice breath becoming more powerful, rather than a global damage buff that would make all the random minions hit harder too. Steady weapons were removed from the game on April 15, too, so that isn't possible to test. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 18:25, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
With HoT this may need more scrutiny. I was doing Prisoners of the Dragon on my guardian, lobbing grenades at some enemy objects that 'are only affected by burning.' I noticed that the initial damage packet (non-condition damage) from the grenade was registering; knowing most grenade bundles are fire damage, I attacked the thing with my torch 5 (which doesn't cause burning) and was rewarded with a very effective series of strikes. My other weapons did next to nothing to it, so it looks like fire damage is actually effective in this case. I don't think it's a coincidence that nearly all HoT exotics are defaulting to Choking damage, but I don't yet know where it will prove helpful. 184.18.209.226 21:16, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Proof of Choking type[edit]

While this looks like a test item (particularly with the low id number), it shows that it is in the API. Further discussion on reddit brought up some examples.

No weapons have the choking type displayed any more?[edit]

Also the ones named in the section do not produce the stated effect and the Path of Fire ones only apply fire. --Skyve (talk) 23:31, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

I think that the skin's damage type will override the weapon's damage type so long as it isn't Physical. Final precedence is given to the damage type of the skill being used (an elementalist isn't likely to see much affect from a skin).

Missing Gif?[edit]

Or we could just simply make a gif of another creature. ~Sime 21:51, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
