Talk:Cat
Cat at chef's station in lion's arch likes spicy flank steak. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.231.224.19 (talk) at 13:42, 23 August 2016 (UTC).
Feedback 2016/08/24[edit]
Add the three new cats added with today's update, thanks.
LA, Fields of Ruin, The Grove (a Kitten)
One has an option for Spicy Flank Steak. One has an option for both Spicy Flank Steak and Spicier Flank Steak. One has an option for Slab of Poultry Meat. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cronos (talk • contribs) at 03:20, 24 August 2016 (UTC).
- With new cats found, it might be better to make a new page, maybe, and link from Cat? Hungry cat or the like? (Also, references for the new hungry cats: #3, #4 & #5) DeLight (talk) 07:32, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- The wiki documents what is shown in game. If an NPC is called Cat, the article is as well. The page isn't really cluttered at the moment, so I don't think adding additional information will be problematic. —Ventriloquist 09:22, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- In-game NPC is called Kitten, not Cat. The F. Prince (talk) 09:52, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- One more: there are some called Kitten and some called Cat. The F. Prince (talk) 09:56, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- Whatever information is on this page that is related to 'Kitten' should be moved to Kitten (but can be linked here). —Ventriloquist 15:29, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- Wherever it may go, the information on the feedable kittens should be in the same place as the feedable cats since they're functionally the same --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 15:59, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Cats on the Internet[edit]
Some time I forget that the wiki is part of an online community, but seeing: "16:04 Cat (NPC) (35 changes : history) . . (+6,781) . . [Lady Elyssa; Kossage; Judas (2×); Doctor Refrence (4×); MithranArkanere (7×); Appletoasty (20×)]" as well as multiple more edits over the past week on this page alone... yeah this is the interwebs for sure. Don't get me wrong, I love that the community is banding on this page/project... but it had to be about cats... -Darqam (talk) 16:17, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- LOL. For some/most? of my edits this morning I got the message saying someone else updated it while I was editing... Never saw it before. Of course it happens on the cat page. :P Appletoasty (talk) 16:22, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- The internet, and ANet clearly loves their kitties. I'm a-mew-sed at how much love this page and the cats in Tyria are getting. =3 - Doodleplex 19:02, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Addition to Hungry Cats 2016/08/24[edit]
I was able to offer the cat in DR "spicy flank steak", "spicier flank steak" and "fire flank steak". All options were available, but disappeared after giving it one of them. [1] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 91.119.102.54 (talk) at 12:23, 24 August 2016 (UTC).
- Thanks for the heads up. I'll check what all the options are on my alt account when I get home and update the table if nobody else gets to it before I do. :) Appletoasty (talk) 16:25, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Hungry Cats split[edit]
Wouldn't it be better if the hunt was merged into Kitten (NPC)? The F. Prince (talk) 17:03, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- I think it'll be better if the scavenger hunt or whatever this is got its own page linked to both Cat and Kitty. Or to a new Cat (hungry) page. MithTalk 17:11, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
Cat Day/Night High Five[edit]
I can confirm that this portion is true. The cat that is leaving does the "High Five" gesture with its left paw while the cat that is coming in just passes through. Then the cat leaving exits the instance. (this is for human instance)
- I just don't understand why/how this works. I would honestly love a screenshot or something. Does the cat stand on the 2 back legs and high five his buddy? Does he awkwardly lift one of the 4 paws up above his body to high five? I would LOVE to believe this is true, but I just can't see it at the moment... -Darqam (talk) 16:23, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- From 90.204.103.7, at [2]: "tried and did not work. However, entered at dawn and had no kitten present". -Darqam (talk) 20:53, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- I'm guessing it depends on which home instance. I tried the asura home instance, all jazzed to get a screenshot, and it didn't work there (entering before dusk, the daytime kitten remained well into the night; exiting and reentering at dawn there was simply no kitten, as 90.204 said). - 73.226.195.132 16:27, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
- Looks like for it to work properly, you have to enter before the 5 minutes of dawn and dusk, with enough time for the first kitten to walk to its roaming position. If the first kitten is ready, it will start walking towards the other one when it arrives. Then meet each other and high five. The first time I saw this happening was in Rata Sum's home instance. New Map, New Cat[edit]
There is a cat just east of Castaway Circus waypoint on the new Ember Bay map. Sorry I have to run to work and can't feed the kitty or edit the main page. Coranax (talk) 17:54, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
"Not hungry" Cats[edit]
Just found a cat next to the Lion's Shadow Inn cat that reads as "is not hungry right now". Should these be listed somewhere incase they "become hungry", or are they not notable enough to matter? Azure Fang (talk) 15:57, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
Tracking thought[edit]
Would love to see a checkbox inline with items in all lists/tables so wiki users can track their individual progress of completion/have-item.
If checkbox status is saved as webpage data (cookie?), then it can be up-to date and 'remembered' for future visits. Dunno if that is against some wiki policy, and maybe there are other ways to implement it, but in the meantime, I resort to spreadsheets as a way of tracking as needed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.178.30.140 (talk) at 21:30, 4 October 2016 (UTC).
PvP cat[edit]
- This blind cat mews hungrily.
- If you don't have carrots
- It's not interested in anything I have.
- If you are carrying carrots
- It seems interested in some carrots.
- If you are not a Revenant:
- The cat refuses to take food from the likes of you.
- That seems rude...
- If you are a Revenant with fewer than 39 carrots:
- The cat turns down your meager offer of carrots.
- Maybe I don't have enough.
- If you are a Revenant with at least 39 carrots in inventory (can be in multiple stacks):
- It purrs happily
- 'Bye.
- No, cat. This is my food.
- You can modify this as needed to fit the current style. SarielV 05:18, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
Southpark reference?[edit]
Is the "No cat. This is my food." line close enough to this? MithTalk 01:05, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
- It seems more like just a common thing said to a cat who wants to eat food that's yours. Not that it works well, my cat still tried to eat my pizza. *stares at cat* - Doodleplex 02:37, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
Textured buttholes?![edit]
I loled pretty good at that note, but is it really something that should be mentioned in a wiki? And who by good graces would investigate the buttholes of the creatures in the game to make such a statement in the first place? >_< --92.216.167.69 05:14, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
- Haha, it is a pretty silly note, but it seems harmless enough. A dev even tweeted it. It should really be in trivia, though, so I've moved it there. --Idris (talk) 06:01, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
- I like how a reply tweet is asking if they sent an intern to check all buttholes in order to make this note. I guess they don't know the wiki is entirely player edited. Unless we are all unpaid interns of course, hmmm. udas 16:34, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
- Pinpals also have textured buttholes. After reading this earlier today I've started looking... #NotProud --165.255.88.247 13:36, 6 September 2021 (UTC).
All Cats Missing[edit]
I went into my home instance today, where I was disappointed to find that all my cats had disappeared. I tried toggling them with the feline dispersion device, but none of them appeared. I have all cats except one, but none are showing up. ~Miss Lana 04:37, 30 June 2018 (UTC)
