Corsair, I know nothing of the way attacks work in GW2 but your sentence "All attacks are skills but not all skills are attacks" basically agrees with the making of this page a redirect to skill.--'Mai Yi' {TC} 23:36, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

If all attacks are skills, then skill would be just as informative, and it should redirect there. Skills has a listing of skill types, this is just another one. Support redirect. Aqua (T|C) 23:48, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Sure. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 00:20, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
I don't especially care. I think I'd advocate larger more informative pages than a scattering of smaller information snippets so probably favour my original redirect especially with the skill page updated to mention attacks. But this page is okay at the moment though I don't ever expect it to become much larger or more informative than it is. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 00:26, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Attack, spells, miss[edit]

Are spells also attacks? It would seem that blindness causes attacks as well as spells to miss. Power and Attack attribute also imply that there may be no separate attack or spell skill types... but when what about weapon damage? Is it added to spells? That would make sense... Technically both attacks and spells are subtypes of skills, so they are equal but not the same. Similarly, blind doesn't cause all skills to miss, just the next attack or spell that targets an enemy (I think just enemies, anyway). - Infinite - talk 11:10, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Ok... it seems that, contradictory to Skill page ("skills must be used to do weapon damage"), all weapons (like Simple Weapons) have base Power, which should affect attacks and spells alike. So the contents on this page should be abandoned or reformatted and integrated into Skill (because all attacks are made by using skills) and this page should be reserved for Attack attribute, as suggested. Disambiguation pages might be needed... Mediggo 11:31, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Skill Descriptions[edit]

There are skill effects that set the expectation of differentiation between attack types. Banner of Courage and Banner of Wisdom are easy examples. I believe the more recent information that has been released is that all skills that deal damage directly are considered attacks. If we feel like we'll be able to keep the wiki updated frequently with information before GW2 release, it would be helpful to have a tag to mark pages with saying something to the effect of "Updated Description Expected. Contradictory Information Released." Tagging articles may be more relevant when the Closed and Open Betas are released. -- Blue Phoenix User Blue Phoenix Phoenix inverted.jpg 02:12, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Merge to Skill?[edit]

Really Attack should just redirect to skill or vice versa. They're one and the same thing and anything that affects attacks affects skills, offensive or defensive. 96.245.177.118 22:45, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Flanking[edit]

Article suggests that flanking improves attacks, but I ran a quick test through arc_dps and found no difference between 100% flank dps and 0% flank dps. Is there any dev source about whether flanking should increase it (might be a bug in dps or I'm doing something wrong and not accounting for a variable). The sentence was introduced in 2011 before the game release. Good catch - reworded some sentences. —Kvothe (talk) 16:23, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
