Clarification[edit]

I going to remove the following two drop rate entries:

{{"Recovered" Charr Artifact research line
 | Total = 2
 | Piece of Rare Unidentified Gear = 02 | Blood Legion Key = 01 | Legionnaire Staff#item4 = 01
 | user = Anonymous
 | timestamp = 02:29, 04 October 2019 (UTC)
}}

{{"Recovered" Charr Artifact research line
 | Total = 01
 | Piece of Rare Unidentified Gear = 01 | Flame Rifle#item7 = 01
 | user = Anonymous
 | timestamp = 18:17, 07 October 2019 (UTC)
}}

Claim: I assume that this two entries are missing one legion key drop each.

Reason: Excluding this two entries, the legion key drop rate is 100%, namely 41 out of 41 (at 08:30, 8 October 2019 (UTC)) with exactly one key contained in each artifact. Furthermore, Game updates/2019-10-01#Items states the following: ""Recovered" Charr Artifacts now have increased rewards: an additional piece of charr-themed gear, one of the four legion keys, and double the chance of receiving a Visage of the Khan-Ur." On the other side this two entries from the same user suggest a key drop rate strictly smaller than 100%. Based on that 5+ users documented a 100% key drop rate with a 41 sample size and based on the game update formulation I draw the conclusion that these two entries are wrong (screenshots to disprove me are highly welcome).

Therefore, to avoid corrupted data, I going to remove this presumably wrong drop rate data entries. --Tolkyria (talk) 08:30, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Request[edit]

I hereby request the removal of the following drop research entry:

{{"Recovered" Charr Artifact research line
 | Total = 50
 | Piece of Rare Unidentified Gear = 50 | Iron Legion Key = 4 | Flame Legion Key = 2 | Blood Legion Key = 3 | Ash Legion Key = 4 | Flame Blade#item7 = 2 | Flame Staff#item7 = 1 | Flame Short Bow#item7 = 1 | Flame Scepter#item7 = 2 | Flame Rifle#item7 = 1 | Flame Pistol#item7 = 1 | Flame Bow#item7 = 1 | Flame Dagger#item7 = 3 | Legionnaire Horn#item4 = 01 | Legionnaire Firebrand#item4 = 1 | Legionnaire Staff#item4 = 1 | Legionnaire Sidearm#item4 = 01 | Legionnaire Greatsword#item4 = 1 | Bloodletter = 1 | Flamewaker = 1 | Ashfall = 1 | Ironsight Bolt Thrower = 1
 | user = Undouble
 | timestamp = 15:16, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
}}

Observations:

  1. The drop rate of Piece of Rare Unidentified Gear is 100% for all contributions, exactly one piece per artifact. The drop rate entry above has 50 Piece of Rare Unidentified Gear out of 50 bags.
  2. The legion key drop rate most likely 100% (exactly one key per artifact), while the drop rate entry above has 13 keys out of 50 opened bags.
    • Excluding the data entry from above we have 238 total opened artifacts and 238 dropped legion keys, documented from over 15 wiki editors.
    • The following game update notes (October 1, 2019) stating: ""Recovered" Charr Artifacts now have increased rewards: an additional piece of charr-themed gear, one of the four legion keys[..]".
  3. The common weapons are in the same size as the opened bags: 238 opened artifacts contains 211 common weapons (weapons from the category "Common"), while the drop rate entry above has 12 common weapons out of 50 opened bags. Compare a ~88% drop rate chance vs a ~24% drop rate chance for common items.
  4. 238 opened artifacts didn't contain a single rare weapon (weapons for the category "Rare"), while the drop rate entry above contains 4 rare weapons out of 50 opened bags. However, here the editor could have been lucky.

Conclusion:

  1. The observations above doesn't fit together:
    • On the one hand we have 50 opened artifacts with 50 Piece of Rare Unidentified Gear,
    • but on the other hand we have 13 legion keys and 12 common weapons (this would allow the assumption of 13 opened artifacts instead of 50, based documented researches from all the other editors).
  2. However, both results clashes with 4 drops from the category "Rare" (but, again, here the editor could have been extremely lucky).

Request:
Summing up all these points, this drop research entry sounds fishy. I think that it is not correct and hence corrupts the whole data set. Therefore, I vote to remove this entry from the page. --Tolkyria (talk) 10:08, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

I agree with removing this entry. Given the 88% chance of common drop, chance for only 12 common drops is basically impossible. (around 1×10^-25) DJemba (talk) 12:00, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
Well written and researched, I agree with the removal Dak393 (talk) 12:16, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
Since even the patch notes refer to the keys as being 100% drop rate, I agree with the removal. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 14:38, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
I agree with the removal. —Kvothe (talk) 18:08, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
Okay, I removed the drop research entry stated above to preserve the integrity of the drop rate research. Please note that such actions should not hold off anyone from contributing to a drop research, drop rate researches without any proof sometimes need harsh decisions. Any kind of proof, e.g. showing an artifact without legion key drop or several rare drops in a row (e.g. out of 50 artifacts), is more than welcome, but until then we decided to remove this drop research entry for all the stated reasons. --Tolkyria (talk) 19:29, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Small error[edit]

Sorry for the hassle, but is there a way to add one Carrion Legionnaire Shield of Rage to the results? I just submitted some research and accidentally only entered 1 instead of 2 and am not sure how to edit it after submitting. The rest is correct, I just overlooked this specific item.
