Dialogue[edit]
- During event
- If you have time to chat, you have time to work. I need you to go protect my troops while they gather kindling.
- Troops? All I see are skelk...uh...gathering kindling.
- Highly trained kindle-gathering skelk troops. Now, go keep any predators away so they can carry out their orders.
- For the troops!
- Why did you train skelk to gather kindling?
- Because it's easier than training them to knit. Besides, I'm not gonna let this old leg injury of mine keep me from getting my work done.
- How did you injure your leg?
- Hunting skelk strangely enough. I was on my regular patrol keeping the skelk in the area away from the mill, when a group of the little creepy crawlers somehow got the better of me.
- That's how you hurt your leg?
- Those little devils love to go for the knees. I fought on despite the injury, but by the time I put the last one down, I was exhausted. I couldn't even stand. I had to crawl all the way back here.
- It is an honor to meet such a dedicated soldier. You can count on my help.
- Say no more. I'm off to help the troops.
- How did you train these skelk?
- After I got this injury, I was put on permanent kindle-gathering duty. I'm proud to say I took many a splinter for the legions. During one foray, I came across a skelk nest full of eggs.
- Go on.
- As I was gathering the eggs for food, they began to hatch. Since I like fried skelk hatchlings almost as much as fried skelk eggs, I thought nothing of it until I started heading back.
- You're making me hungry. Go on.
- The hatchlings followed me back thinking I was their parent. I don't like bonding with lunch before lunch, so I ignored them. Darned if I didn't look up to see one standing with a twig in its mouth.
- That's pretty impressive for a skelk hatchling.
- Ix always was the smartest of the bunch. Also, the real looker. The others soon figured it out. Over time I got them to break up the kindling rather than just salvage for it.
- Thanks for the story.
- Impressive, but I have to go.
- That reminds me, I have to grab a snack. Good-bye.
- A touching story, but I have to go.
- I think I should probably get started helping the troops.
- Yes, sir!
