hey it's Syria and welcome to our guild
chat on cookie okay very serious we are
not at all serious arts and crafts so
you try to stop laughing for like two
seconds so earlier this week we let you
guys know the descended cooking is
coming to the game those of you who are
into crafting and cooking can get your
crafting experience up to level 500
starting next Tuesday but we're really
excited and we couldn't wait to give you
a little preview so we're gonna do that
today my partner-in-crime Clayton is
here
what's up Syria and the quaggan with the
oven mitt is behind me and Patrick bales
Patrick welcome to guild chat today say
hi and introduce yourself hi I'm Patrick
bales I'm a member of the QA team and
I've been working on real hard and
getting uh cooking 500 ready for you
guys you're gonna teach us so we're
cooking lesson from Patrick today
Patrick I'm gonna let you start a little
bit our goal is to give you a little
head start we're not going to just ruin
the whole surprise for you but we do
want to make sure you're able to jump in
next Tuesday and get started with that
feeling confused or lost on where to go
and also previews are fun so we're gonna
do that Patrick what's the story line of
ascended cooking what's what's going on
again so the storyline of ascended
cooking is Siemer ox bone the the famous
Terry and the famous Noren chef has come
to your home instance because he's heard
of how good you are as a chef
and he set up a little kitchen there and
your job is going to be upgrading that
kitchen
and making the finest kitchen and olive
teria so that you can cook the finest
foods in all of Tyria perfect all right
well that kind of gets us started and
there are five races in the game
they're going to be five different
storylines to work together on right yes
that is correct
all right so the first thing that you
all are going to need to do on Tuesday
we're going to take off that cap of
level 400 get your cooking up to 425
right Patrick yes 425 is when seamer
will show up to set up your kitchen yeah
so he's gonna show up and he's going to
send you a little letter that is people
are talking about you but in a good way
so it's okay either saying you're some
kind of rising culinary superstar he
knows talent when I taste it so why
don't you cook me a chef's tasting
platter we don't currently know how to
make that right
not currently when you hit 425 you will
learn the recipe to make that just
automatically yes okay so it's probably
important to note too that we are
playing on an internal development
client right now this stuff is not live
in game so yeah don't don't try to go do
that now hang on to your hang on to your
cooking supplies
all right so Seymour's going to show up
syndra send you a letter you can start
in any of the five home instances right
yes he will
yeah he will show up in all of them but
in a different place and in each one of
them fair enough all right well okay
what why don't we start by showing you
guys where you can find seymour seamer
seamer in each of the home instances I'm
currently in the human home instance so
he is right up here let me just run it
up here she can kind of get an idea of
where it is he's right down here he's
made me a bad little kitchen here is
nice yeah right yeah and you can also
he's got the little bit over his head so
when you're running around you can see
that yeah all right yeah so that's where
he is in human home instance Clayton why
don't you show us
we're using the Norn home instant yeah
okay so I'm the Norn home home instance
and I got my dude right here with our
little crafting station that just showed
up here and so to give you a little idea
it's kind of when you log into this
instance kind of up to the right up the
stairs a little bit about like the
second floor I'd say right is that fair
Patrick uh yeah I would call that the
second floor yeah so you go upstairs a
little bit and then you just hall to
your right
pass the two children on the stairs
you've gone too far
so turn around you'll be right over here
can we give them stop signs yeah all
right so Patrick how about for the char
for the char he's located inside this
kind of large I guess
barracks ikana area which is right here
you can you'll get to him by when you
load into the instance head over to your
left and into the and into the large
building and you'll be able to find him
under the stairs in his little Harry
Potter kitchen that's what I'm calling
many all right Midwest so that's where
you are if you are starting with the
char meanwhile I have I want to pause
take a moment to admire your character
name yeah oh yeah can I introduce you to
the quantum behind me we've uh we've got
a long history yikes okay so while you
were doing that I hopped over to the
asura home instance and I'm right here
at the entrance I'm going to run forward
so I have come forward a little bit to
the right and here's my little Asura
Harry Potter kitchen I guess just
because it was under the stairs I guess
you're also under so yeah you just run
forward from the entrance up here into
the whatever this building is
and there he is and right up here in the
top right and you have the little
cooking station icon too if you get
super lost alright and finally how about
this so very home instance Clayton
that's wrong Matt so you can see our
collection cooking guy our cooking
station it's really close like right
when you load up it's right in like the
little who actually here over here and
then you can go right forward and hang
that right right there
so next yeah
cooking station right there you start
here move there and then to the right
really something perfect alright so
we're going to run you through one of
the five story lines today we decided on
human so Patrick why don't you kind of
get us started on what's gonna happen
here okay so once you get your once you
get the letter and you speak two-seamer
he's going to ask you to cook him the
chef's tasting plate when you when you
cook it for him you'll be able to give
it to him and then he will unlock the
collection that represents the ascended
cooking quest line you see that open
there he will write you a letter of
recommendation to the master chefs of C
of T area where we were in where you
have to go speak to them and prove your
knowledge of Tyrian cuisine and to learn
in order to learn their their deepest
secrets and become a master a master
chef fair enough
so for humans that is going to be making
of course of course it is I am and you
know what I'm I'm amused because I
couldn't say anything the other day but
when we were talking on the Guild Wars
to Facebook page the other day about
ascended cooking somebody was like oh
will there be bacon
to the wiki page on toxic bacon so all
right so we're at our kitchen Clayton I
can't see did you get back to the human
home I'm back in the home I I did the
first part okay so we need to make this
thing
mm-hm I can't remember if I left it my
inventory or not
I did it's in my inventory so I will go
give this to Seymour he's going to eat
it so fast that I don't see it like
crazy cooking eating contest not cooking
it just straight
oh yes the here's the pie-eating
champion oh okay so you know your way
around the kitchen donis is decadent I
guess that's a compliment that is
generous of you I feel like I'm
downplaying my own cooking ability and
I'm not greatly happy about that I know
talent when I taste I'm going places

in your home instance for all characters
across the account or just for your chef
he should appear for all the characters

what do you need it's all about baking

so if you don't already have that recipe
most of the recipes for these chef
trainers that you want to show them are
going to be discoverable
but since flatbread is not discoverable
if you if you do not have the recipe

crafting interface and we'll start with
the flatbread so if you just type in a
flatbread yeah you can see it there it's
go ahead and craft one of those alright

now what so the next thing that we're
gonna do is we're gonna we're gonna bake
a cake so grab the bowl of amnon berry
frosting that you've got uh-huh okay
okay I like how we're all in our own
cooking station yeah wine has
breadsticks unlimited mind you all right
so you're gonna need a bowl of chocolate
I'm not very frosting a bowl of Baker's
dry ingredients
a bowl of baker's wet ingredients and an
omni and if you combine those in the
discovery pane if you do not already
know the recipe we're making the cake of
the frosting the cake you should already
have the frosting right okay where do is
where's my cake uh it'll be in your
you've got to discover the cake if you
don't know okay okay so tell me again
what we're taking so I can look for it
yeah so we're getting a bowl of
chocolate

a bowl of Baker's dry ingredients and a
bowl of baker's wet Ryans
let's craft this you want to mix a real
gentle nice Airy soft cake are you
really gonna confront a char and try it
out in the back okay so what next
so next is gonna be the the final nail
is gonna be the bowl of roasted roasted
lotus root so for that you're gonna need
a lotus root a head of garlic a jar of
vegetable oil and a bottle of soy sauce

together stick them in the oven

so once you've cooked all three of these
you will get sage will talk to you and
he'll give you the the next step of our
quest to become a master of human Tyrion
cuisine okay so I can't help but notice

kitchens are the worst and baking is
really almost like a kind of chemistry
right like you got to get all your
ingredients exactly right temperatures
right so
having a good oven is really important
for that and how do we do that well so
he has the public kitchens the problem
is is that the public kitchens all their
ovens are totally different sure so you
can't really learn your oven so Laurent
still ushion is that we're gonna make
our own oven we're gonna make a better
oven just like in real life yes we're
gonna make it we're gonna make the first
convection oven let's see all right the
public kitchens vary a lot I need my own
oven yes deal what do you need all right
so then he's you needs to bring him the
materials for the oven and to power this
we're going to use heat stones rather
than fire anything like that we're gonna
use some the good traditional ingredient
of magic flaming rocks
oh I cooked my eggs for breakfast this
morning see already one step ahead of us
all right I have the heat stones he
asked for because we prepared ahead of
time yep so he'll ask you for three heat
stones and once you bring them to him he
will tell you that they're they're warm
but not quite hot enough so what we're
going to need to do in order to really
get them nice and hot and ready to heat
up the oven is dip them in some boiling
hot magma no I did that this morning go
ahead oh sorry sorry so the best place
to find magma and tyria
is Mount maelstrom so we're gonna head
on over there so we can dip our heat
stones
I like the commander's reaction here
he's like the stoic athira Clegane much
greater potency from exposure to
significant heat I'm sure you can find a
pool of
Poole on Mount maelstrom that will
suffice get going and my response is
this sounds like a bet if you guys want

it I found a pool of boiling hot magma
here's one I prepared earlier here's a
pool of boiling hot magma that I
compared ahead of time all right
dip the heat stones in the magma uh-huh
they bask in the inferno yeah well that
sense remarkably chills bask in the
enfermo and for now I'll wrap them up in
a dish all right so once you've dipped
them you take them back to take them
back to Laurent you guys can t see me
again if you want to char matey I love
your character name so much it's there
we go whose many pet is that the little
pirate yeah I love it
I put the I'm so straightforward I put
the heat stones in magma now they're
really hot surprise Chad said if you
don't have a pool of boiling magma at
home store-bought is fine okay so what
did you think would happen thank you for
acknowledging yes so now you're going to
now we need to put built an enclosure
for the oven and so instead we found we
found the culinary application of
bloodstone seamers gonna be so happy
it's what's on bricks
everybody call for bloodstone this one's
for you all right
bloodstone bricks will do you need 10

bricks if you don't have store bought is

I know bloodstone dust has a battery

improve your improve your kitchen and
your cooking skill the there's also

equipment in your in your home instance
learn how to butcher finer cuts of meat
learn how to grow your own learn how to
grow your own plants I tried to give him

excited the box is heavy I love that
there's a whole oven in this bog like

kind of scared of him because he's just

if this is like the start I can't like
the whole thing is probably gonna be
just like need bloodstone like the size
of my head or something some of the is
Suren tech you pick up is actually super
super looking how right on I can't wait
to see my delivery man is finally
showing up yay us seamer gets very upset
hopes and dreams
okay so I thought that another thing
that could be kind of cool would be to
show you some of the new recipes that
are they were going to be including with
the limit this update so once you hit
five once you hit 500 cooking you'll be
able to craft the actual ascendant foods
I do yes just like a real cooking show
everything yeah and I also happen to
have some handy uh Ascended materials to
crime yeah you're gonna let's give them
a little hint you're gonna need some
ascended materials besides bloodstone
bricks right yes you're going to need
Dragonite or you're going to need spirit
wood planks and you are going to need
d'el djem or steel all right I'm really
happy about Dragonite feeding it to my
Dragonite or eater
yeah yeah made mistakes okay so what do
we got here okay so one of the things
that I is kind of really I think is cool
one really cool and interesting is the
new spherify deutscher soup so to make
that you're going to need a glob of
gelatin that looks like a giant boba
you're gonna need a bowl of vegetable
stock okay you're going to need an
oyster and then you're going to season
it with one of these extended herbs I've
chosen cilantro I no longer want this
boba was it the cilantro that the soap
we'd just cilantro tastes like soap to
you I know I don't have that I don't
have that gene but I know I do have some
friends that do okay so all right we're
gonna make this thing all right so I'm
gonna craft that and so I've got
purified cilantro oyster soup so all of
the Ascended foods that you are going to
get from this from the Ascended crafting
from Ascended cooking are going to be a
count bound however they are also all
feasts so you are going to be able to
share them with your friends so what
because what is cooking without sharing
you gonna drop taking your home
incidents no absolutely not
I can meet you guys back in Divinity's
reach that's sage again alright

all right so here is the oyster soup
that's exceedingly cool looking yes this
is also the new feast model for the
Ascended foods whoa like I hear in my
head this song from Beauty and the Beast
yes this one does not come to life and
yell at you - oh well then I the Buffs
that you're gonna get from these
ascended foods are also quite powerful
on top of the normal on top of the you
know chance to steal life less damage
less conditioned damage that you might
be used to or the some of the stat
changes on top of that all ascended
foods are going to give you plus ten
percent to your karma gains plus five
percent - all experience gained plus
twenty percent magic find plus twenty
percent gold find and plus ten percent
to wi bullvine is so nice yeah awesome I
love it oh wait so oh hold up I just ate
this twice and now I have the bucks for
six hours well that's fine do you have
the primer on I have utility programs
like I'm confused and you can see some
of the some of the foods that are
going to be in the ascender cooking on
this little feast model that'll be a
nice little surprise when you guys
discover all of us that's cool all right
I'm looking for I'm loving like all the
different food models that we got going
on here yeah swinging around I think
that much if you read leaves I don't
know but I got these like little mini
finger foods soup those nice desserts on
top okay yeah like the little shooters
yeah I love those okay by thing is full
of charm wow this is this is the first
time I've seen this model and I dig it
yeah it looks like one of these jell-o
molds that just went rolling by oh
there's there's some aspect involved for
sure my foods are like the dates wrapped
in bacon we're gonna say your favorite
finger food was okay so is there
anything else
there's your there's your preview how
much just how long does this last
without primer yeah you also have the
you will also have the primer okay lasts
I've also got my primer on but I think
it lasts about two hours okay yeah like
it's giving me a longer duration than my
primer okay so two hours all right
that's awesome

you guys a run-through of the human
quest line Oh
do you want to talk about how this
advances your cooking oh yes so each
time you complete one of the little
story lines and there's a story line for
each race you're going to get it you're
going to get an extra 1000 extra ten
skill levels of cooking
oh I'm so by the time you finish this a
collection questline you should be at
about 475 and ready to discover the cool
thing yeah all the all the awesome new
foods that's fantastic
all right well there is your cooking 500
