Interactive map |
Farmer Bunti is a scout found in The Bonestrand, and is the first NPC that players will encounter after entering The Desolation from the Elon Riverlands.
Location[edit]
Scouting reports[edit]
“The Bonestrand has been cut off by the war. Despite their dedication to Joko, the villagers in Purity have seen a rise in suspicious activity, and they've had to endure more more scrutiny from the Awakened at the garrison.
High above Purity, the clanmarshal and his Awakened vizier oversee the Bonestrand from the Pergola. The situation is complex—tensions are rising.
Joko's standing orders were to feed the empire and send Awakened troops through Palawa's Cut to battle the Forged, but the road south is contested.
— Farmer Bunti

Dialogue[edit]
- We never worried too much about food or security under King Joko. But recently there have been a lot of suspicious things happening—the villagers are unhappy, and the Awakened are acting strange.
- Ask away. I'm glad to help. (Upon choosing any of the back options)
- Tell me again what's going on here. (replays the scout's map overview)
- Any idea who's behind the <suspicious/recent> incidents?
- Between you and me, I believe the clanmarshal has turned on us. Some suspect that he and the vizier are poisoning our crops. Villagers are dying. But speaking out can get you exiled.
- Why would the clanmarshal poison his own people, though?
- The clanmarshal wants security, and the empire needs troops and servants for the war. If a villager is poisoned or executed, they can be Awakened and sent to the fields or trained to be soldiers.
- One more question about the area.
- Interesting theory.
- Exiled? Where?
- To a life of hard labor north of the Bone Wall. No one exiled has ever come back.
- One more question about the area.
- Sounds rough. Thanks for the warning.
- One more question about the area.
- What a terrible business. I'll see if I can learn more.
- So the people here really coexist with the Awakened?
- Yes, of course. The Bonestrand helps supply the entire empire. The farmers of Purity work with the Awakened to raise crops that are then sent south to Vabbi. Praise Joko!
- Uh, praise Joko?
- Indeed. King Joko has blessed us with protection, prosperity, education and even Awakening! He defeated Abaddon and vanquished the Elder Dragon Zhaitan...
- He...what? You know those are lies, don't you?
- King Joko doesn't lie—he's as honorable as he is powerful. If you want to blaspheme, do it north of the wall with the rest of the exiles.
- This topic is going nowhere. Let me ask about something else.
- Have it your way. I have better things to do.
- One more question about the area.
- Uh, yeah. See you around.
- You mentioned there was some tension?
- Unfortunately, yes. Vandalism, arson, poisoned crops...the farmers think they're being watched. I hear some are actually considering fleeing north or even rebelling. Don't tell anyone I said that.
- Not all the Awakened are friendly, right?
- One more question about the area.
- I won't. Don't worry.
- But not all the Awakened are friendly.
- Clanmarshal Geddi increased the guard due to the war, but some fear he and the vizier might be ausing their power. Bonestrand Garrison is downright hostile now. I wish King Joko would return.
- You mentioned there was some tension
- One more question about the area.
- Thanks for the information.
- One more question about the area.
- Um, yeah. See you around.
- And the leaders know the Bonestrand is cut off?
- The Forged have stormed across the Desolation, south of here, cutting us off from the Bone Palace and Vabbi. The clanmarshal is holed up in the Pergola. Vadik does his best to lead the town.
- We should talk to your clanmarshal.
- Clanmarshal Geddi and Vizier Kasahn don't see many visitors these days, and recent events have put doubt in people's confidence in their leadership.
- And is Vadik the village leader?
- One more question about the area.
- That's to be expected, I think.
- Is Vadik the village leader?
- He's an upstanding man. Vadik Odili has been a leader in Purity for a long time and is trusted by the villagers. He urges caution, but his daughter Zuri is rumored to be forming a resistance.
- Can we talk to your clanmarshal?
- One more question about the area.
- Sounds like they have different ideas about what needs to be done.
- One more question about the area.
- I won't. Don't worry.
- The situation does seem precarious. Thanks for the info.
