This page is supposed to give some suggestions on what to do with items that might clutter your inventory, especially those items that keep coming back as you play the game.

Depending on the item, there are probably quite a lot of uses. In order to keep this page as simple as possible (but not simpler), I might omit some of them and focus on the most useful ones. In other words: Don’t expect this page to be 100 % exhaustive. But if you think I’ve missed something important or valuable, let me know.

Map materials[edit]

Living World Season 3[edit]

  • All of these materials allow you to buy certain Ascended equipment, listed in the “Ascended” column together with how much of the material is required (in brackets). Note that the Ascended trinket page may provide ways that are even more easy to obtain.
  • Often, there is an additional Unbound Magic.pngUnbound Magic or Karma.pngKarma cost for buying any of the items with map materials, which is not listed in the table.
  • The Gift of Bloodstone Magic.pngGift of Bloodstone Magic and Gift of Dragon Magic.pngGift of Dragon Magic are both only used for one thing: Crafting Aurora.pngAurora, the legendary trinket. Each of these gifts requires three stacks of map materials, one from each map. The “Gift” column tells you to which gift the material contributes to.
  • Aurora also requires buying some things with these map materials. The things that can be bought with the materials are listed in the “Collection” column. Note that Relic Collector is not a requirement for Aurora.
  • Some of the materials can be used to buy miscellaneous items, listed in the “Misc Items” column. I have not itemized each of the minis etc. separately.
  • Selling Orrian Pearl.pngOrrian Pearls to the vendor might be more profitable than consuming them and then converting the Unbound Magic, because they drop less magic than the other materials, but the vendor price is the same.
  • The “⌀” column documents the average amount of Unbound Magic per material I’ve received. This was measured by consuming a stack with around 190 % Magic Find and dividing the result by 250.

1Yes My suggestions:

  • If you’re going for Aurora, make sure to get both of the Gifts and all required collection items.
  • If one or more of your characters lack ascended accessories, amulets, back items, rings or aquabreathers, get them these.
  • Unlock the four shrines in Siren’s Landing.
  • If you’re into minis, get those.
  • If you’re a completionist, buy the recipes.
  • If your guild hall could use one or more Oakheart’s Essence, take ’em.
  • Finally, if you don’t have a lot of Unbound Magic (less than 50,000), consume the materials, else sell them for gold. (Except for the Winterberries of course, consume these or make food out of them.)

Shard of Crystallized Blood of Jormag.pngShard of Crystallized Blood of Jormag

Prismaticite Crystal.pngPrismaticite Crystal
(Champions)
  • You’ll need 10 Prismatium Ingot.pngPrismatium Ingot (consisting of, in total, 50 Prismaticite Crystal plus worth of other materials) for the Cloaked in Scales collection’s Prismaticite Clasp.
  • Additionally, it’s used to craft Dragon Slayer weapons and their upgraded versions (Azure, Crimson, Icy and Fiery).
  • My suggestion: If the cape and the weapons don’t interest you, craft the crystals into Prismatium and sell that on the trading post.
    • Be aware that there are two recipes for the ingots: One that costs more Prismaticite but less other common materials, and one where it’s the other way around. Make sure to use the one that’s more profitable. However, the profit margin is often so low that it’s easier to just destroy the Prismaticite.

Crystals[edit]

Shimmering Crystal.pngShimmering Crystal Lost Precipice Shimmering
Tenebrous Crystal.pngTenebrous Crystal Gilded Hollow Tenebrous

1Yes My suggestion:

  • If you’re not interested in the weapons or armor (anymore), your only option is selling the crystals to the vendor (16 Copper coin each, 40 Silver coin a stack). Everything crafted from them is account bound.

Scribe[edit]

Various Items
Item Main Sources Used In Conversion
Resonating Sliver.pngResonating Sliver
  • Trading Post ()
  • Vendor (Copper coin)
  • Mail to your guild’s scribe(s), a stack is only worth around 10 Silver coin.
  • Otherwise, sell on TP.
  • Since the usual TP price is just Copper coin, you can also sell it to a vendor, losing at most 30 % of its value (i.e. Silver coin 50 Copper coin instead of 10 Silver coin 62 Copper coin).

Other stuff[edit]

  • The “Main Sources” column will not list every way possible to obtain the item, only the most common ones.
  • The column “Used In” lists the most important crafting or forging results that consume the item.
    • The approximate costs are given in brackets, where “(3 + Silver coin 53 Copper coin)” means “3 of the item plus around 8.5 silver in additional materials”.
    • If the resulting item can be sold, I will list the approximate sell price after a colon.
  • If the item can be relatively easily converted into gold or some other super-common item (like unidentified gear or basic crafting materials), these conversions will be listed in the “Conversion” column.

  • If you’re a completionist or like the skin, get Tempered Spinal Blades.pngTempered Spinal Blades. Note that there are way cheaper ascended back items available, e.g. via LWS3 materials.
  • Otherwise, buy Ultimate Citizen's Rescue Bag.pngEquipment Bags from BLING-9009, then sell or open-and-salvage the gear.
  • The sigils are not worth it.
