Hello[edit]

Hi there, welcome to the wiki! Thank you for the very much needed updates on guild mission pages, they're great. Just a quick note on the item pages for precursor collections - you can merge the information from the note into the main acquisition section - like I did here, for example. Also, when sections or any other information, always add it above the interwiki links (they usually start with de, es or fr) that are found at the bottom of articles. If you have any other questions feel free to post them here, the Help:Ask a wiki question page or at my talk page. Happy wiki-ing and thanks again! —Ventriloquist 09:56, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

User Contributions.[edit]

Heya,

So I noticed on Vent's page that you mentioned you kept a note of everything you edited. Although the idea is great, it is far more work than you need. I recommend you take a look at your Contributions pages. It keeps a record of everything you've done (so don't go trying to hide your mistakes, they are recorded FOR EVER! *evil laughter fades into the distance* -Darqam (talk) 14:57, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

I prefer to cover my mistakes.... with... more mistakes... SarielV 19 x 19px 17:16, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Additionally, you can also add pages to your watchlist by either clicking the tab above that say "watch" or by pressing alt+shift+W. Pages in your watchlist are bolded when seen on the Recent Changes page, and you can always find the entire list of 'em in the watchlist link I posted in the first sentence. They're a pretty neat way of keeping track of anything that's relevant to your interests, or in my case, preventing random vandals from destroying information. —Ventriloquist 15:06, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Ohhhh my goodness... That is going to be a VERY long watchlist page, as I think I've had the box checked on literally everything I've touched... *flails around violently* But thanks, that's also a great resource! This is like learning to walk all over again, so I appreciate all the advice and will do my best! Also, lol SarielV --Falindae77 (talk) 01:35, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Grammar fails[edit]

Man, trying to make things look good/easier to pick out in a sentence does not good grammar make... I swear, English is my first language. *long sigh* Learning from your helpful minor re-edits SarielV and Ventriloquist, and as eye-opening as it is to my own... interesting... typing habits, I'm not sad there will be documentation of it forever. It's an... interesting... time capsule one way or the other. Endeavoring to keep you from having to clean up after me henceforth, humbly, --Falindae77 (talk) 01:44, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. As much as I'm an OCD nitpicker, I still drop words about 25% of the time, I edit on a machine that freezes for 3 seconds every 40 when I'm lucky, I have a thing about typing 'taht', 'teh', '-ign', and about 10 seconds after I commit something I'm unhappy with it and start fixing it. We keep each other honest XD SarielV 20 x 20px 08:08, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Acquisition[edit]

Hey, I don't think it is necessary to add the written text on how to acquire something to items, you would have to do this to every item if you would like to do it. Also all the karma-items from all the heart vendors, every item from every wvw/fractal/pvp-vendor. I don't think you want to do this? And the info you write as a text is already there: that it can be purchased with karma and from whom. If you want to know where, just click on the name and it tells you where he/she is. And the vendor-list template updates automatically if the vendor is moved. Your text does not. --Cloned (talk) 06:24, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Usually I'm against adding "unnecessary" information to articles, but I quite like the way Falindae has approached this. The wiki is often criticized for forcing people to get to relevant information through links, so it's actually quite useful to have the waypoint link and description right there on the page. Also, how often do karma merchants really change their location? —Ventriloquist 06:45, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for voicing this, it's how I learn!
The main reason I'm editing a couple of the legendary T1 collections is that they were collections I had done myself, and found a bit tedious to do using the wiki as a guide. The wiki forced me into a lot of link clicking/following, and I ended up with four or five browser tabs open to find the information I needed-- not very convenient (and I noted that in the change summary for most of them as well!). Yes, the information is already there in a way, but I thought others might appreciate having the info a bit more handily available, especially by way of WP's to travel to.
As with the karma vendors-- I figured if I was going to add their locations to the "Acquisitions" portions, it might just be handy to have an easy way to locate them on their actual linked pages, also, in case someone was looking for them without going through the T1 collections first. I'll chill on those now, though, since I'm fairly well done modifying the T1's I found cumbersome. You won't have to deal with my flood of edits there anymore, hopefully! :)
All the best! --Falindae77 (talk) 07:17, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
I put a lot of work into the HOPE articles and I'm quite attached to them ;D So I've been following your updates with interest. I feel Wiki's strength is in very specific information - you look up one item, and you get a small encyclopedia entry for it. That's how I approached HOPE. If you wanted a general guide for something, you're probably better off looking up information on dulfy.net, reddit, youtube, the main forums, etc. Those are more forgiving on tone and structure, and may even present the information better. That's not to say there's not room for a different approach, so long as you keep in mind that you are serving the players who are coming here with questions and keep the info pertinent. Doing my best, and roger that! (Excellent work, by the way, I was still able to complete the collection, so! :3)--Falindae77 (talk) 08:05, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
