Redirects[edit]

Heya, I'll see if I can take care of those (for now just Orr) with the bot. How would you rather have things done. Have it as Orr or, Ruins of Orr? I imagine some pages will require specific attention such as in-game descriptions listing 'Orr'. As such I'm thinking option 1 might be best? -Darqam (talk) 17:36, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Orr as half the time it's a link in some dialogue or something that says "Orrian", so be careful. - Doodleplex 17:53, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
Ok, Orr is mostly done. For some reason http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Release/Features still links to it, don't know from where... I also left all the user pages alone (who am I to stop people from making people go through redirects?). I'll work on Magus Falls in a bit. -Darqam (talk) 18:28, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
Wiki cache sometimes is slow to update, saw that when I was switching Skill Points to Hero Challenges that's my guess, but I wouldn't worry about it if it's just the one page. Also many thanks! - Doodleplex 18:42, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
Ok, it seems like most are done (on your list). I need to wait on cache refresh to see if it's actually done or not (lots of template calls everywhere). Also your hero point redirect was really only 4-5 edits, since everything was being called from the nav template. Also, does Harbinger Torch (object) need to be renamed as well given the current naming policy? Since I haven't been working on those much I want to be certain before moving stuff around. -Darqam (talk) 20:34, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
I premarily grabbed redirects I knew of because I was watching them to fix something or the other. As for the naming policy, I'm pretty it should be named (hero challenge) based on what I've seen of other hero challenge objects, but it couldn't hurt to as Alex or Ventriloquist first just in case. - Doodleplex 20:40, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Gallow's Hang[edit]

Saw this page on RC, checked it out, saw Gallow's Hang note and... that's not entirely right. We only have (hero challenge) if there is an equivilant of the same type that isn't tied to the challenge - in this case, an object named Gallow's Hang. Since the only other name is a location, it should be Gallow's Hang (object). Ultimately, it doesn't matter except for consistency, and it's done as object more often than not. Only when there's two objects, npcs, or events where one is the hero challenge and one is not do we use the (hero challenge) suffix. E.g., Statue of Grenth/Statue of Grenth (hero challenge) are both objects, so to differentiate the hero challenge from non-hero challenge, the hero challenge is marked as (hero challenge) suffix on article name, alternatively Grenth's Door/Grenth's Door (object): one is a location the other as an object, and as such there's no need to denote the object as a hero challenge in the suffix because it's the only object.
Ultimately, as I said, it doesn't matter if we denote it as (object) or (hero challenge) as there is no other non-hero challenge object, however, consistency is the key. And I believe the consistency is in using (object) unless there is another object of the same name and isn't a hero challenge. Konig 23:40, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

If all other hero challenge objects say object then it should probably be moved back, as I'm a fan of keeping thing consistent. Mind you I wasn't the one who moved it, I just simply wanted to remove redirects that didn't need to exist, but I am glad you said this, it's good info to know for the future. - Doodleplex 23:52, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

skillbar templates[edit]

I've muddled with those things before. For some of the errors, I could actually fix it, but not for all. They were made at a time when we had a number of skills that have since been dropped, and the users that have included the templates never bothered to come back and update them with current skills. They're also a friggin' mess and I can't always find where the icon code goes. SarielV 20 x 20px 15:08, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Yeah I've tried as well, but it's such a total mess of chaos and confusion. If somewhere it could be added "if no skill image exists to use Skill.png" (well something like that) it would probably fix the bulk of the problems(I think/hope/am-doing-a-rain-dance). - Doodleplex 17:17, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
Updated engineer and ranger sections of Leonim's templates. Chances are extremely good that I broke something, but hopefully not :/ SarielV 20 x 20px 17:33, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
What I'm seeing mostly with Shewmake's templates is that they are so old, a lot of people decided to make their builds before the game was even released, so many have skills that don't exist any more. There are some issues like the ones I fixed in Leonim's, but Shewmake's is even harder to read and that much more likely to cause problems if I were to fix em. Maybe later.
