Taunter[edit]

"What I'm Playing" "* Guild Wars 2 demo on PC" What the section title says. Though a question, if you can answer: This demo is different? Where, when, and/or will it be playable to the masses? -- Konig/talk 05:10, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

We posted some details about the demo on the ArenaNet blog today. Other than that, I can only say that people can play norn if they wish, as mentioned by Josh Augustine from PC Gamer on his Twitter feed. Bobby Stein 20:06, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
...I wish I could go (I'd still play a charr necro either way *coughs*). Danke for the response. ^^ -- Konig/talk 20:10, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Whoa, activity by a dev on the wiki! ;)-- Shew 20:12, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Heh. I try to stop by when I can. Now that we're showing off more of the game I figured I should stop in and say hi. ;) Bobby Stein 20:15, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Man, I'd like to go and test the game... I guess there's no chance of GW2 demo booths in Finland any time soon, is there?
or in Holland :P amyways good to see you Bobby ^^ --User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 20:26, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Holland? Sure, that'd be nice, but Cologne is still pretty damned close. Plus, there are no tradeshows anymore in NL. --SirrushUser Sirrush sig.jpg 20:39, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Please release the demo's .dat file for us wiki folk, pretty pretty please? Would wuv wyou wots. <3 ;) - Infinite - talk 23:08, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
I'd rather see the demo released to the public via the official site. pwetty pwease? -- Konig/talk 23:12, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
We'll pay! -looks away fast- .dat alone is fine! Konig is just being a greedy cat-lover! x- Infinite - talk 23:15, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
There is a shrewd remark I could easily make about that, Infinite, but I'll keep the dev talk page clean of dirty jokes. -- Konig/talk 23:21, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Ha. --'Mai Yi' talk 23:27, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Bring it to mine instead, I am in the mood for dirty jokes! :> - Infinite - talk 23:31, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Sorry to bug but Ive needed an answer for ages and since we're on the topic: Will the GW2 demo be shown at any third party companies at Gadget Show Live, in April, in the UK? I got tickets ages ago but I just wanna know :P -Naut 00:22, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

That's a question best answered by someone from the Community Team or Marketing. Bobby Stein 02:45, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Asgeir vs Aesgir[edit]

Hey there, I was wondering if you could shed some light on the spelling of "Asgeir", we currently have some conflicting sources floating about the tubes of the internet, and while we're not particularly arguing over it, I (and possibly others) am/are wondering whether the actual correct spelling is "Asgeir" or "Aesgir". And sorry for bothering you with trivialities. :P --SirrushUser Sirrush sig.jpg 04:35, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

I'll have to check some design docs at work as a safety, but according to David's blog post it's spelled Asgeir. David's a stickler for grammar, punctuation, and spelling so if he's listing it that way there's a really good chance that's correct. Bobby Stein 23:51, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks for replying! :D --SirrushUser Sirrush sig.jpg 00:04, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Why isn't Turai Ossa black?[edit]

Ahai! I was going to post this in the discussion forums, but thought it might be more informative here. Using the character models of the Elonian royalty family tree, there is a stark contrast in skin color between the early rulers and their descendants. At first I thought maybe they lived in the desert for so long that their skin grew darker over the generations. But skin color aside, the ancestors clearly have Caucasian features while the descendants have African features. I personally think that either everyone in the family tree from the Primeval Kings down should have African features, or there should be ancestors with African features who married into the family. Because as it stands, the Elonian family tree goes from white to black with no sense of transition. Kevin32 (talk) 04:30, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

I could probably answer that... basically, those earlier rulers all use the same model which was designed for Prophecies, before deep lore and appearances of Elonians were designed, which was released in Nightfall about a year and half after Prophecies' release. In other words, it's highly likely that there was no "Elonians are based off of Africans in appearance" decision made at the time, because we literally have only a handful of Elonian models in Tyria, all of which are ghosts and most (if not all) are models shared with Ascalonian ghosts - which were the common models used for every ghost NPC in Prophecies (there wasn't a lot of ghost deviation until Nightfall which added a handful more, but still often used original Prophecies ghost models).
Naturally, they merely never went back to "fix" this continuity "error" by switching the model (largely because most of those early rulers weren't even in the game anymore - only Turai and Jahnus were!). Konig 04:46, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
