Waypoints are floating stone markers that players encounter in their travels. As the world is explored, locked waypoints represented with a small 'lock' on the waypoint marker become visible on a character's map and compass. Getting close to a waypoint will unlock it for that character, at which it can be returned to via map travel for a small fee.[1] The fee depends on the point of origin and a character's distance from the destination; travel within a city is free, while longer distances will incur still-modest but larger fares.[2]

In some areas, if a waypoint is taken over by a mob of enemies during a dynamic event (i.e. centaurs, etc.), no one will be able to access that waypoint until the conquered area is liberated.[3]

A normal zone typically has between 10 and 20 waypoints.[4] The waypoints also act as resurrection shrines when a defeated player uses them. Resurrection has the same fees as normal map travel.
