Feedback 2015/11/05[edit]

Not sure if the vendor info for this should go into the same template or a template at all. Tab names, order of Inscriptions (Herald, etc) needs to be checked and names of recipes, especially of foods as I've crashed out. As well, please check if the Specialization Inscriptions are sold when you just unlock or fully unlock the specialization. --118.209.154.110 08:06, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2015/11/06[edit]

Trying to delete the section from the second half of the page since I've moved it to the template, and just having a section without the template for the machetes from the vendor in Pact Base. This is so that the Plated Weapon pages will display the correct information. However, I can't remove the info since this as it's too large a deletion. TBH the vendors need to be split with their own templates but they're called the same thing on the map --Moria (talk) 13:06, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Name Change Might Be Needed[edit]

I have no idea how to do this, but this merchant is just called "Whispers Keeper", not Crystalline Ore Collector, so this page should really refer to that, not the currency he needs. The only real problem is this guy and the one in the Pact Base Camp have exactly the same name but sell different things. (They might look different too but the one this page is talking about is always swarmed right now, I can't get a clear shot of him. T___T). I want to create a page for the one in the Base Camp, but due to this name issue, I'd rather wait until either this gets changed to prevent issues or until somebody has some other idea. - Doodleplex 17:47, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I don't think it's necessary to create a separate page for each NPC if they have the same name. Much simpler for users to find the vendor they're looking for by just lumping them together on this page. You can rename a page by clicking on the "move" button. There's already an article called "Whispers Keeper", so I recommend calling it "Whispers Keeper (Crystalline Ore Collector)". --Idris (talk) 18:01, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Okay I moved it but then I realized something, the one in Dragon's Domain is the -only one- who uses the Crystalline Ore as currency, the one in the Pact Base Camp doesn't, nor does any other vendor outside of the guild mini vendor. I'm not sure what to classify the Pact Base Camp one now as since he uses the currency from all the maps and since he really isn't a Crystalline Ore Collector, and as such I'm not sure he should be referenced on this page. Also since I'm still the newbie, should this merchant's icon be found in just Dragon's Domain page or Mordremoth's Vantage page since right now both pages link to him?(I find that a little repetitive.) Also he was an asura last night. I wonder if it randomly changes the race of the merchant or he really is so overcrowded after the meta I got confused lol. - Doodleplex 18:43, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
The vendor at the Base Camp uses the "hi I'm a crystalline ore vendor" symbol, and though he doesn't accept ore, he sells machetes for the same currency as his M's Vantage counterpart (I think?), so it's all good. Some generic NPCs do indeed randomly change race, which is why we have the "Race = Variable" parameter for the infobox. That said, I've only ever seen the Base Camp vendor as asura. No idea on the Vantage vendor; like you I can never get a good look at the bugger.
As for the repeated mention on two articles? Eh, I say leave it; this is an important vendor so a bit of redundancy is probably helpful for folks trying to find him. --Idris (talk) 18:56, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Scratch that last part, I didn't realize Mordremoth's Vantage was a PoI and not an area. Yeah, we don't need the merchant icon there. --Idris (talk) 19:12, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Both the vendors are asura. -Seylan 118.209.208.223 20:51, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
"Whispers Keeper (Dragon's Stand)" would be fine no? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:30, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Feel free. I'm not keen to take on the task of editing every single link to Crystalline Ore Collector. --Idris (talk) 19:32, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Works for me, I think if it gets move the redirect would prevent broken links, though I think it's only linked in two spots so no worries Idris. In general Alex, you're the admin and therefore the boss as far as I know, so I'm fine with whatever you think is best. ^_^ - Doodleplex 19:35, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
It's not a broken links issue. Wiki protocol is that links should point directly to articles and not redirect pages; so when you move a page, you have to go through every link that referred to the old name and update it. Those two links you noticed are about as far as I got with updating this version before I got bored and resolved to finish it later. Check out Special:WhatLinksHere/Crystalline_Ore_Collector and you'll see why. :p --Idris (talk) 19:43, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
To be clear, I'm not suggesting we shouldn't rename it again. I'm just saying that I'm very lazy. --Idris (talk) 19:43, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Ohhh okay. I didn't know that. I would help you with that but vendor tables confuse the crap out of me. I'll see about changing the rest, but only after Alex decides if this current page name is okay or not. (I'm such a newbie T__T) - Doodleplex 19:53, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Looks like he moved it. :P Don't worry, I'll help. I'll be honest, the lazy thing was a joke that got out of hand. The real reason I'm not keen to do the edits is because the wiki's being intermittently laggy for me tonight, but I'm sure between us we can get it done. :) Don't worry about the vendor tables; if the article just says something like {{vendor list}} and doesn't have any hardcoded links, then it'll update automatically. The cache tends to keep such pages in the "what links here" list for a while after they've updated, but you can ignore them. (All this said, I'm not 100% on how it works, so if someone else comes along and says I'm talking nonsense, listen to them.) --Idris (talk) 20:24, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Don't help, I'm bot fixing the links.
And yeah, 145 pages are just cached, the other 4 needed fixing lol. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:32, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Yeeeeeaaaaahhh, I realized the majority of them were going to be cached about five seconds after posting my little guide to cached links up there. :P Oh well, it's done now, right? I'll go find something else to make an unholy mess of. --Idris (talk) 20:38, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Good to know about the vendors, I got so horribly baffled by them. Actually most of the templates that have no hard links confuse me but I'll stick to just editing the missing HoT stuff for now. And Roger Alex. - Doodleplex 20:40, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

npc icon[edit]

Heya, the (correct?) npc icon is now uploaded as {{icon|crystalline vendor}}: Crystalline Ore Collector (map icon).png, and file is available File:Crystalline ore merchant (map icon).png. I attempted to swap the icon, but I'm not sure how that's done without butchering everything... so I'll leave that in someone else's capable hands. -Darqam (talk) 15:42, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Nice work finding the icon, just use the icon parameter directly? (the other option is to reclassify it from "merchant" to "merchant, crystalline ore merchant" but thats unnecessary imo. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:43, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
