Talk:Thousand Seas Pavilion
The Black Lions advertisement says its in Cantha, not the mist. Im wondering if the fact that the map is placed in the mist instead of the world map is some kind of glitch? User:OtakuModeEngage
- It is not any glitch, both the passes locate it in the Mists. Just a disparity between lore and mechanical region, glitch would more likely be that in the API it is in Cantha while it has its own map and is located waaay off, like Mistlock. ~Sime 09:14, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Eh, I disagree, many dungeons are instanced and do not appear on the World Map, but are still technically in Tyria. Thus that alone proves nothing. That said, the mist are often based off of real places/events, so why cant it be both? User:OtakuModeEngage
- Because its based on technical standpoint. Just because an NPC is talking about that region doesnt mean the map is located there. Dungeons are in Tyria because they have entrance in the tyria and we can even tell where they are placed based on other points of interest showing on that map while you are inside those dungeons. If you want to test it go inside TA and look far away in the fog on the map. You will find a lot of pois that cant be found in the normal world. --DiegoDeLaHouska (talk) 22:44, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes exactly, dungeons show in the correct location. Another example would be the Underworld, in Api it is Crystal Desert (lol), on the map it is above Shiverpeaks (lol again) but it is in the Mists. This lounge is the same way with the addition that you cannot even access the world map, it is literally above an UNEXPLORED continent thousands of kilometres from Cantha, and it even uses the Mists char selection background, so... + ingame lore has precedence over outside sources, most of the time, anyway. I will ping Stephane though to make absolutely sure. ~Sime 23:03, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Official comment by a dev:
- "So @Sime It's kind of complicated. For now let's just say that it's in the Mist but please can you make a note to check that again next month? It was meant to be a Canthan location that ended up in the Mist but it was not built with lore in mind so we don't have a clear answer. The designer is trying to clarify in an upcoming release so that's why I asked you to check again next month."
- Will upload a screenshot of the quote and change the page accordingly + will ping the dev again next month for the final update. ~Sime 16:26, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Interesting, so it appears there was some kind of miscommunication between the development and release phases. User:OtakuModeEngage
- Yep, hopefully it will indeed be clarified because yeah, it is still a bit confusing and I am still not a fan of the situation. (Also if it eventually ends up being outside the Mists, RIP having to change all the NPC locations). ~Sime 22:26, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Honestly, I think it would probably be less work for ANet to say its in the Mist and call it a day. But I really hope they put it on the World Map, I think it would make Cantha feel larger and more full. User:OtakuModeEngage
- So they added sliders so you can access the world map from Thousand Seas Pavilion(TSP), but its a one way thing, you cant access TSP's waypoint from the world map. You can however see the island on the world map, although it is fogged. User:OtakuModeEngage
- It's still pinned in the discord channel lol. I didn't forget, but I've been a bit busy again lately and didn't want to bother Stéphane just for one thing though I'll eventually do it. ~Sime 20:35, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
(Reset indent) So Kvothe decided to change it without waiting for the talk page output... Anyway, few days ago we discovered (thank you, Gwylen!) that the lounge counts for the EoD fisher daily, and Stéphane said that the dev team has no further answer to this problem, so I wanted to propose to change it into Cantha based on the achi, though we should still preserve the anomalies since the description still says it is in the Mists. ~Sime 13:53, 3 July 2022 (UTC))
- I'm sorry. Cleaned up NPCs and objects linking to this page. —Kvothe (talk) 16:12, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
Adjusting images of the Pavilion[edit]
Hi guys, I captured and consequently uploaded to the wiki a wider/higher shot of the Pavilion in-game (from the beach side), should hopefully show more/be a slightly clearer representation of the in-game zone. I am just not sure how to add the image to the wiki.
For reference, you can find it under my profile's uploads, or alternatively, here: [[:File:ThousandSeasPavilion Wide.jpg]]
Feel free to use/or advise how to use (or both!) :D
Thanks for your hard work on the page so far (and for the clarification obtained from the Dev! I hope we end up being able to use the world map like we can in Mistlock at some point soon!
P.S. I'm rather new to wikis, if this is the incorrect way to add a new topic of discussion please excuse me! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Diruuo (talk) at 10:15, 10 April 2022 (UTC).
