Talk:Teleport
Since Blink is actually a shadowstep, should it be moved?
"Unlike shadowstepping, teleportation is not limited by your normal range of movement. It is possible to teleport to reach normally inaccessible areas." Well Lightning Flash and Blink act like shadow steps and are called "teleports." Is this a bug or intended? Pôwer 04:06, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
Uninterrupting teleport[edit]
Do any of the teleportation skills interrupt skill activation? If they don't, we could note that here on this page instead of on those of individual skills. If they do, we'd probably need to note if the teleport skill does or doesn't interrupt activation like done on Judge's Intervention. Mediggo (talk) 17:38, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- I think both shadowstep and teleport don't interrupt activation. I know with Steal, Lightning Flash, and Blink at least.--Relyk ~ talk < 18:10, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, forgot about that. Hard to Catch works quite nicely with stability provided by Dagger Storm and it allows the skill to continue channeling. Mediggo (talk) 18:50, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
Most of these are not teleports[edit]
I think we should not classify skills in pages about skill mechanics based on incongruent descriptions instead the actual functionality of the skills. Most of these skills that say "teleport" in the skill description, but all of them excepting the mesmer portal and Spectral Recall (I can't say about skills like Vacuum, since I found no way to test the recall with an obstacle appearing after the bubble goes through) are mechanically identical to any skills that says "Shadowstep". Instead, they should be listed in the Shadow step mechanic page since they use that mechanic, and each of them should get an anomaly note stating that the skill is actually a shadow step. - That will bring confusion, if these skills say they are teleports that at least should be mentioned here. There should also be something of a clear definition of Shadowstep and Teleport and a testing-method based on these definitions by which anyone can verify if a skill should be considered a Shadowstep or a Telelport. - Any mention to skills that do not use a mechanic in that mechanic's page should be very clear about that. This page is confusing in what it lists skills using different mechanics as using the same. Of course, it's the skill description's fault that people keep confusing them, but that's where the wiki steps in to make things clear. MithTalk 18:15, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
- Teleport simply refers to moving from one point to another instantaneously. The behavior of the skill determines how the teleportation works. The confusing part is that we have teleport and shadowstep as difference pages. We can merge the two pages as we simply end up repeating ourselves on the shadowstep page. Teleport is the more general term for the mechanic. The portal and Spectral Walk pages would describe how they ignore pathing.--Relyk ~ talk < 20:14, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
