vs Triforge Pendant[edit]

Isn't this better than the (much harder to obtain) Triforge Pendant (ascended)? --Combatter 18:02, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

In terms of stats, I believe they're exactly the same. (The Triforge Pendant may not have had its page updated to reflect the stat boost to celestial "jewels" in the Feb 26 patch.)
Which is easier to obtain depends on how you look at it. Syzygy costs 30 Laurel, which you might earn "for free" while doing other stuff, but you need to play for a fair amount of time (both in hours logged and in calendar time) before you can possibly acquire that many laurels. The Triforge Pendant requires crafting materials worth perhaps 100 Gold coin (wild guess, might be way off), which probably takes longer to acquire through typical play, but you have more choice about how you earn it—you could earn it all in one place or in a one-week marathon of intense play, whereas laurels you need to jump through specific hoops and spread out your play. And you can always buy gems with real money if you get impatient (laurels and Syzygy are account bound).
I'd consider the Triforge Pendant something of a vanity item, though. Like Legendary weapons, people probably get one for the challenge and/or prestige rather than because it's the easiest way to get their desired stats.
Also, some people got the exotic Triforge Pendant before ascended amulets existed, and once you have it, upgrading it to ascended actually looks pretty cheap. --Felbryn 19:14, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
Ah thank you. I guess the stats on the Triforge Pendant page need updating then (assuming that it has been boosted by the Feb 26 patch.) Thanks for the discussion about difficulty of obtaining too. --Combatter 08:42, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
The Syzygy is listed as Account Bound and the Triforge Pendant (ascended) is listed as Soulbound on AcquireCinnamongod 17:31, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
I went and bought a Syzygy and found out that it is Soulbound on use which gives it very little advantage. Only if you want to make the purchase on another character and then transfer to the desired character before first use. They are effectively the same other than that.Cinnamongod 21:04, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
There's no equipment in the entire game that you can buy second-hand. My point is that, if you want to make a Triforge Pendant, you don't need to personally collect (for example) 250 emerald orbs or 1500 lumps of gold ore—you can buy an exotic pendant, a glob of ectoplasm, and a mystic coin off of the trading post, and then you only need to earn a single fractal relic and throw everything into the mystic forge. That could, in principle, be done by a level 1 charcter in about 20 minutes, if you were willing to pour enough money into it. To get Syzygy, on the other hand, you need to personally earn 30 laurels, which I think you'd be hard-pressed to do in less than about 20 hours of gameplay spread over at least 10 calendar days. --Felbryn 21:59, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

what about name[edit]

An x-files episode has the same name Syzygy (The X-Files) and the In-game description "A powerful alignment. " matches with the episode plot, "They discover that two teens are responsible, due to a rare planetary alignment that affects their behavior." etc... Eleozz (talk) 19:03, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

+ the icon matches with the episode plot, "The episode's title refers to an astronomical alignment of three celestial objects, usually the sun, the Earth, and a moon or planet. " Eleozz (talk) 19:17, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Isn't this a re-hash of trivia point 2? Like, a derived reference? --JonTheMon (talk) 19:39, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
Jon's right, we try to limit trivia references like this to the original source (unless there is an obviously intended double reference, like the original company names here). The X-Files reference is simply a parallel reference to the same source by a different franchise. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:35, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
