Talk:Shiverpeak Mountains

I think we should keep this as a single article untill the formal region layout for Guild Wars 2 is established. -- Gordon Ecker 12:12, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Should this be a disambig page? And did we lose the stone summit as well as the, er, Jalis Ironhammer dwarves? -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 22:53, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

The good dwarves got stoned, and we killed all of the stone summit. Lord Belar 00:09, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes yes yes, they were stoned. And I doubt the Shiverpeaks will be divided as much as GW1, so this should be the only page, and we should junk Far, North, South, etc. Shiverpeaks for now. Calor (t) 00:53, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
I think you missed the joke there. :/ Lord Belar 00:57, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
I did. Care to elaborate? Calor (t) 01:16, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
The first one. Although the next two could also have humorous implications. :P Lord Belar 01:37, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
lol, it's really pathetic that a 12-year-old virus has been found on Vista. That tells you something about Vista's... erm... "quality" (goes to throw up) --Gimmethegepgun 06:19, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
? What does the Shiverpeak Mountains have to do with Vista virus? — Eloc 17:09, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
It's not a Vista virus it's a virus that was created 12 years ago that Vista is pathetic enough to get affected by! --Gimmethegepgun 03:10, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Wow, what a lame virus. — Eloc 02:24, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
No, what a lame operating system. Lord Belar 14:55, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Enjoy. gimme credit if you steal it --Gimmethegepgun 18:09, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Still an epic userbox, even though I now use Vista. Cress Arvein User Cress Arvein sig.JPG 23:41, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Microsoft has never written an operating system. Windows is a GUI on top of an advanced BIOS. A proper OS would both keep a database of all code installed and who installed it or asked for access to it (if already installed) and also keep track of all hardware devices, all the associated drivers, and who installed them. Plus a host of other functions not to be found in any version of Windblows.

Northern, Southern, and Far Shiverpeaks[edit]

As per this, will there even be a Northern, Southern, and Far separation? We don't know, so why bother with linking to redirects when there probably won't even be a needed article for those two. For all we know, the Far Shiverpeaks will also just be a part of the whole Shiverpeaks. I think people are wanting to separate the pages on this wiki because they were separate in GW1, but really the only thing that keeps the Northern and Southern shiverpeaks separated in GW1 is gw1:Beacon's Perch, if it weren't for that, there wouldn't really be a need for those two pages on the GW1 wiki - so when there might not be such (due to persistence), why would there be a need? Especially since the Northern Shiverpeaks are no longer, well, northern. -- Konig/talk 13:07, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

I agree, the Shiverpeak Mountains as a whole is fine. -- pling User Pling sig.png 14:06, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
There might not be, yes, but we have nothing to suggest that. Unless common sense dictates, we should assume that unless it has been implicitly or explicitly stated otherwise, things are the same as in OGW. --Santax (talk · contribs) 10:16, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
We have nothing to suggest anything, aside from the lack of the usage of "Northern" "Southern" and "Far" before Shiverpeaks (this includes the Movement of the World which with specifics should be taken with a grain of salt since at least 3 specifics were already changed). The term for where the Norn/Jormag comes from is usually "far north" "frozen north" "distant north" or "northern" - never Far Shiverpeaks. The terms "Northern Shiverpeaks" and "Southern Shiverpeaks" are never used as well - just "Shiverpeaks" when talking about the norn's new homeland and the Dredge. Seeing how these three separate terms are never used now, I think it is safer to assume the lack of splitting the Shiverpeaks than "things are the same as in OGW." -- Konig/talk 11:54, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Yet GW1 players can still use Northern, Southern and Far Shiverpeaks because it would point to a more specific area, But still those are just assumptions on the page since the Far Shiverpeaks count as far as the EoTN area, thats where the Norn were, we don't know exactly where they are now except for the fact that they are near an old dwarven fort that could be anywhere. The part of the Dredge is said to be in the Southern Shiverpeaks because they were enslaved in Sorrow's Furnace then said to make a city out of it once they broke free of that oppression. - Giant Nuker 15:09, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
From what we have seen so far, it seems the Shiverpeaks are still separated into 3 distinct regions. Far Shiverpeaks is Jormag's territory, the Northern Shiverpeaks is Norn territory, and the Southern Shivepeaks are Dredge territory. --Santax (talk · contribs) 13:59, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Actually, from what we've seen so far, we can only say there are two sub-regions: "far north" (or "frozen north" "distant north" and "northern") and "southern." In other words, the Far Shiverpeaks were renamed to the Northern, and the Northern Shiverpeaks were removed. Whenever the word "north" is used with the Shiverpeaks, norn, or Jormag it is referencing the previously called Far Shiverpeaks. -- Konig/talk 17:44, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Maybe if we put it together in the Shiverpeak Mountains and at the bottom has(like the races page) have the far shiverpeaks, etc?--IcyyyBlue ♥♥ 20:53, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Map revealed[edit]

the Shiverpeaks merge into the Blazeridge Mountains, and are separated from the Crystal Desert by a river --> not anymore. Plus, I don't know if the Far Shiverpeaks should be listed, because they are not going to be part of GW2 (although they will almost definitely be explorable in a future expansion). Flame and Frost Note[edit]

Notes
With the advent of the Flame and Frost life story, an additional waypoint and point of interest have been added to this region

Are these two still available? If so, where are they? If not, how is anyone supposed to gain the final tier of the SP Explorer achievement, which appears to include these two ("173 out of 175", yet I have completed all SP areas)??
--68.101.73.125 02:17, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

FYI: You've likely missed Griffonhook Run in Lornar's pass. Unless you go there for the jumping puzzle, there's no reason to encounter the area, but that is one of the 175. I was stuck like you @173 until I spotted that while looking at the videos of jumping puzzles and realizing it gave you the "you've discovered" message. That bumped me to 174 of 175. I haven't figured out where that last "175th" area is just yet, but I presume it's something like GR. Probably look through the various SP areas for ones that have no WPs, Vistas, or POIs, I'll bet we've both missed one.

Update: Forsaken Hall in Dredgehaunt Cliffs is likely to be the other missing one. It was certainly what I was missing.

The question is, if you have that, and are still at 174/175, what is next most likely to be missed? (btw, sign your post with 4 ~s) 32.212.104.223 22:31, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Dungeons[edit]

For the explorer title, do I have to complete the dungeons? Or just find them? Grizzly007 (talk) 20:15, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

I assume you are referring to the Shiverpeak Explorer achievement? If so, you only need to find every area in the region, no need to complete dungeons, as the areas inside them (thankfully) do not count. —Ventriloquist 23:09, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. That would save some work as I am still stuck at 173/175 for quite some time =.= Not really sure where the missing places are. Grizzly007 (talk) 07:47, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Explorer#Commonly_missed_areas Raljeor (talk) 08:10, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Raljeor! So weird though. As I see only one area I need in that list, I check against the spots at all areas. I find the other one ... and one more! So the counter suppose to say 172 instead of 173 in the first place (yes, just acquired the title.) Grizzly007 (talk) 03:26, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
