Talk:Guild Miniature Merchant

Why was the vendor list moved back to the specific vendor? In my opinion, if the items for all guild merchant NPCs are exactly the same, then we shouldn't store them on the individual NPCs pages (redundancy) but on the service page. See also Pact Supply Network Agent (which has the list of offered items) vs. individual NPCs, for example Specialist Yana, which under "Items offered" just point back to the Pact Supply Network Agent page. --Leen (talk) 03:16, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

There are several reasons. The most important is that Semantic Media Wiki (SMW) depends on items being listed under individual NPCs, not their service entries. Second it's unnecessarily redundant to duiclicate the list on this page. Finally, there is only one Guild Miniature Merchant. The same thing is being done for all merchants in the Guild Halls. ~ 1Maven (talk) 05:21, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Why are you stealing my phrases? Anyway, the "unnecessary redundancy" happens when multiple NPCs have exactly the same items for sale. If you put the vendor tables on every NPC's page, then you end up with redundant entries in the items' vendor lists, like Endless Mystery Cat Tonic currently has for Jocasta and Laurel Merchant. In cases like this, it's better to put the shared vendor inventory in a single central location, like the service page, so that vendor lists only return 1 output - then readers can follow the link to said service page and pick the specific NPC that is most convenient for them to access, rather than trying to make sense of a list of multiple NPCs with no context of what the difference or similarities are between them.
(On that same topic, I'm not particularly happy with how the tables on Brewmaster and Fine Wining look with all their redundancies, but most of those NPCs don't have common inventories, so what'cha gonna do?). —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 05:30, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
I think there was a misunderstanding, too. I thought there were two guild mini NPCs, one per guild hall (so, possibly more in the future) and I saw no reason to maintain the exact same list of items on both NPC pages as opposed to one services page. I wasn't suggesting to maintain it on both the services and the NPC page anyway. --Leen (talk) 05:37, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Oh no Ish, I've been reading your comments so long, I've been infected! lol
Leen, the same, identical NPC appears in BOTH guild halls for all cases except the Guild Hall Explorer. So, it's effectively only one NPC per service. ~ 1Maven (talk) 06:43, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
