Still bugged; NPCs won't move[edit]

This is still bugged. The NPCs won't move. I've wasted an hour on this stupid frustrating unbalanced quest. I can't proceed with the storyline until it is fixed.192.168.104.79 04:11, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Confirmed. Still bugged at 9:23 Aussie AEST, 22 September 2012. Done it before on another toon, but this one won't let me complete. VERY ANNOYING! As it's a long quest and i don't want to have to redo it. Pls help.

This mission still bugged.I try 4th times on 22 September and 23 and is still bugged. Please resolve this bug because I have level 80 and my storyline is at 62.

Sept 25th, Just played and bug still exists.

Seafarer's rest, sept 25th, finally worked, for me. Try and make sure no members of the first group remain behind and/or dead.

Just played it and bug still is not properly addressed 3rd time i have tried it and WASTED my time. Sept 25th 4:00pm eastern time.

Sept 25th. 3:11 PM PST Just played it, bug is completely there still. However, it kept telling me in red letters "That content is not available right now, please try again later." Sigh arenanet...

Yep, this blows. I get the "content unavailable" message every time I kill a grub in the cave, but the actual problem is that only Trahearne and Zrii follow me. When I get to the gate at the end of the cave, the quest doesn't progress. I've even tried leaving the cave, going to the western wall of the camp, and hopping outside to go all the way around to the other side of the cave entrance blockade to see if that might force progression, but no dice. This is an incredibly frustrating error because you don't know until you've put in a considerable amount of time that you've in fact been wasting it. --Ph03n1x 19:25, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
For the record, the "content unavailable" message only happens when you kill Risen Grubs, and it happens everywhere in the game - not just this mission. It's a completely unrelated problem, and Anet is aware of it.
Can't help you about the blocked NPCs though, since the two times I have done this mission, that didn't happen. Sometimes they get stuck fighting random Risen, or they died and I forgot to revive them...but Zrii blew up the barricade eventually. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 12:03, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

I just attempted the mission and the researched still wouldn't move. Trahearne got stuck for a bit but I repeatedly killed myself in Risen mobs and he budged eventually on respawn. Such a long quest only to be bugged! ~Celestia 13:14, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Just tried it this morning. Still bugged. Cannot get the research team out of the cave. I tried with a guildie who has completed it several times, but it failed with me. This is a very defective game.Wraitheria 19:14, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Never heard of this bug before, so it must be hard to replicate. If ArenaNet cannot replicate what causes the bug, they cannot figure out what's causing it, and thus they cannot fix it. If you want it fixed, tell them everything you did when you got the bug and see if you can replicate it to confirm (to make it faster for them). Besides, every other commentor says it's been fixed since the last comment before yours... Konig (talk) 18:49, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
Dec 21 2017; Still bugged. At southern entrance but it is blocked. NPCs at different points in tunnel and still at rescue camp. They won't follow.


July 3 2020; Still BUGGED. NPC won't move or follow me. Tryed for an hour and still it doesn't work.

July 23 2020; Bugged. Traeherne won't follow me and gets stuck close to the entrance, right next to the Heart quest NPC. Plus, the Agent who should detonate the boxes later on is not even present.

Lost Connection[edit]

So it seems I can't get through this quest simply because every time I try to play it I lose my connection or something. Is this something to do with the game? Seeing as it was bugged before. I have a perfectly fine internet connection, I can play for hours without any sign of issues but as soon as I start getting further into that quest, specifically when you save the first research team, I start lagging (skills don't activate and everyone stops moving) and I lose connection and get punted,losing my spot in the quest, thus making me have to restart it. This has happened four times to me and it can't just be a coincidence that the only time I lag is during this quest. Story Changing Bug[edit]

I added a bug note - "Some players report that if: 1) you complete this mission in a party, 2) you are not the party leader, 3) the party leader chose a different fear than you in A Light in the Darkness, and 4) you accept the mission reward when given the option, then your chosen fear path will be changed and your next story mission will be for the fear they chose, and not the fear you chose. "

This happened to me. My wife was party leader, we chose different fears in the previous story missions (which we did seperately), and when I accepted the reward for this mission, my next mission was for the fear she chose (Tower Down), and not the one for the fear I chose (Striking Off The Chains). Mail[edit]

I had two mails I think from this mission, the first was the one you get from Trahearne upon visiting Lion's Arch... and the second seems to be Logan telling me about Sorrow's Embrace. More bugs (moved from top of page)[edit]

In the end of it, during the dialogue with Trahearne, I heard carnival music and golems. It almost sounded like the golems said "Guten morgen". Has this happened to anybody else?--213.113.118.27 22:48, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Should we note that this quest is currently bugged? A lot of people (me included) are noting that at the end, when you're supposed to lead the 2nd research team from the caves, that research team won't follow. ANet claims to have fixed it, but they clearly didn't.192.168.104.82 04:58, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Well it has worked fine for 2 of my characters i have taken through it. No-one in any of my guilds has had any trouble with it either. I guess it's possibly you didn't talk to the right person, or it's a situational bug that happens rarely. 192.168.104.83 12:15, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

I did this today and the crew wouldn't follow me out of the cave, just stayed up there.

And still some bugs (Fev 2017)[edit]

Trahearne disappeared during the cinematic after rescuing research team 1 (before 'rescue the second research team'), so I couldn't escort the team to the south entrance, because it needed to be 'with Trahearne'. Had to exit and start over. Also, 'as usual', most NPCs don't help during a fight unless they take a direct hit (I'm talking to you, Trahearne and Afanen!). -- Crazy (talk) 11:14, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Non-essential personality dialog options?[edit]

Do we, as a wiki, care to note non-quest essential dialog? As there is a dialog option that requires the Scoundrel personality between the Concordia fort and the Rankor Ruins. Kenji_03 03:00, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
