Discrepancies in the lyrics?

Are the lyrics on Asja's youtube video the official version of the lyrics?
If yes, then there are several differences between the lyrics currently in the article and those on her video. Some of the discrepancies don't "sound right" though, but it could be because Asja Kadric isn't a native English speaker so she may mispronounce certain words. --175.138.216.102 21:58, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

An interpretation of the Pale Tree's words (the lyrics)

Now that we know that the Sylvari are minions of Mordremoth, and that the Pale Tree had been trying to safeguard this secret, we can have a better understanding of what she is saying/singing to her children. Though most of the lines are generic and unaffected by the Living World story.

Fear not this night
You will not go astray

This could be the Pale Tree telling the Sylvari not to be afraid of being corrupted by Mordremoth (going astray).

Awaken from a quiet sleep

Sylvari being born after their Dream.

Nightmares come when shadows grow

Could be referring to the Shadow of the Dragon.

And though the night sky's filled with blackness
Fear not, rise up, call out and take my hand!

This could be the Pale Tree telling the Sylvari to follow her/Ventari's teachings as a guide on how to survive in the world.

"Sunsets have forsaken all and must open their eyes now" "Auroras make circumstance in the solitude of our life" "Darkness sings a violent song" Well those are definitely not what's said in the English version. It's obviously had to be adapted to translate it and keep the melody and everything so you can't assume "scoring" is correct from that.

Is this video linked at the bottom not official lyrics? It's the person who sings it in the game, so I assume the lyrics she's put are what she's singing. It says "calling". —Azurem 15:28, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

Asja is definitely the singer for this song, so whatever lyrics are present on the YT video Azurem linked I would assume are correct. I'm not familiar with the difference between both terms, but it might also be worthwile to know that the music piece is present in-game with both voice and no-voice... if that's relevant. -Darqam 15:41, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

It's definitely "Calling", but I'm wondering if "Pleading, sighing arias" wouldn't make more sense than "Pleadings heard in arias". From the context of the former, the arias would be grieving in captive misery, in the latter case it would be the pleadings that do the grieving. "Pleadings heard in arias" is what's in the video, and if that's what she sings then that's the lyrics, whether it makes sense or not (song lyrics quite often don't). The next line seems to say that darkness is singing the arias so... metaphors and stuff *shrug* —Azurem 18:51, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

I'm starting to think it might be easier to just ask Anet for the official lyrics than have us guess, especially seeing as how guessing what the song lyrics are based on sound can sometimes be horribly off due to how the singer(or singers)'s diction and enunciation is. A third version of the song called "Fer Naw This Evenin by The Soggy Joko Brothers" was also released on May 4. [6] According to the official Twitter, "Sometimes things can go in a very, very different direction before they’re final."[7], indicating that this was likely an alternative version created before the 2018 "Joko" arrangement was created.

This seem very unlikely as the style does not mash with the games tone. More likely is that this version was intended for 2018 April fools, as people were waiting for a release of the joko version at that time, but was pushed back. --Doctor Refrence (talk) 22:13, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

I'm not sure what is being argued here. GW2 officially tweeted that link saying this was a version that came out before followed by a reddit comment from Rubi. From the sound of the comment, it sounds like it was just something made for the fun of it, and possibly was never even made to be made public. So yeah, it's an early alternative to the 'joko' version but not particularly suppose to have been a replacement for it. -Darqam 22:34, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

the reasoning for the existence of the joko brothers version has been explained in the guild chat episode from may 25th, 2018. it was basically Chris Burgess being slightly pissed at a joking comment 'make it sound southern' by a coworker. I don't want to edit this as not being natively english speaking I may misunderstand the undertones a bit, but the wiki comment 'indicating that this was likely an alternative version created before the 2018 "Joko" arrangement was created' is most certainly incorrect, as it came after maclaine diemers version. some native speaker could maybe clear this up a bit? relevant comments on guild chat start here: https://youtu.be/KY6BP4dUCH8?t=1045 Oranisagu (talk) 15:32, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
