Is there a way to preview items that are sold on the trading post?[edit]

This doesn't seem possible currently. Is there a way to get around this? What is a good substitute to see what each item looks like on your character?

Anet has said there is a technical issue preventing previews directly from the trading post, but they're working on correcting this. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:44, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Dye Preview[edit]

How's this bit work? There's no tooltip or left/right click response. I can drag an item into any of the boxes (or the same item into all of them), but this yields no visible change to anything. Kruhljak (talk) 19:47, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

The same was as weapon or armor preview - you have to have a dye bottle in your inventory, right click it and pick "Preview". —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:29, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
So a better question would be where can we get chat link codes that work to preview dye from... or is it only out of the Trading Post that the preview button can be used for dyes. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 12:21, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
They updated the preview system for the wardrobe, so now you can view them as if you owned the entire collection - basically, no more right clicking preview (unless you're clicking from in-game chat), just need to go to your dye panel, click show locked dyes (on by default, I think) and you have the entire dye system ready. —Ventriloquist 12:33, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
Ah. Perhaps they should reswizzle it ingame so that the "preview" option shows up in the wardrobe then. Thanks for the tip though. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:56, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
Only thing is that you can't use (afaik) the dyes from the wardrobe on skins you haven't unlocked yet. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 11:15, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Sadly, no. Only way to see skins you don't have unlocked is to use the "old" equipment preview and then preview dyes on that armor (but you still can't choose which exact part you want dyed). —Ventriloquist 11:42, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
A possible work-around of sorts is to preview using Account vault#Wardrobe Storage, which shows locked as well as unlocked skins. It defaults to your currently configured dye combinations. ~ 1Maven (talk) 13:03, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
yep wardrobe storage from the bank tab + dye from the TP is how I got here in the first place. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:16, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
