Questions related to Bloodbound weapons[edit]

1. Are they all of Rare quality tier?

2. How exactly do they scale with character level?
Do they match the character's level exactly for all levels, or only every few levels such as the items from the WvW karma merchant?
Related question: Do the WvW karma items continue scaling with character level as a character levels up (just like the Bloodbound items), or does a character need to keep buying a new set once it gains enough levels?

3. Are there armor items and trinket items in the game that are like the Bloodbound weapons (that is, stat-selectable, scales to character level, and better than Fine quality tier)?

  1. Yes.
  2. I would assume they match all character levels. As for the WvW karma items, it would appear you need to keep buying sets every ~10 levels.
  3. Yes, they are called leveling equipment. They come as armor or weapons with exotic rarity, and are stat-selectable. They don't scale to your character's level, but the equipment itself has stats six levels higher than its requirement. —Ventriloquist 23:03, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Where exactly the level scaling is documented? This article doesn't contain any link to other sources like official website, developers blogs, forums etc. Or maybe they intentionally decided not to disclose this mechanics, and the only source of info is the in-game description "Weapon power scales with player level." --109.252.109.177 08:46, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

You can also get bloodbound weapons from Mystic Forge. They are rare drop. --85.76.6.99 17:18, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

Hammer skin[edit]

Currently the wiki says: "Every Bloodbound weapon skin can be unlocked from another weapon, except for the Bloodbound Hammer."

But the hammer's skin image is linked to Iron Hammer. Is the Bloodbound Hammer a nominally separate skin with identical looks? -- kazerniel (talk) 11:14, 2 August 2019 (UTC)

It indeed is a separate skin with an identical look. ❄The F. Prince❄ (talk) 12:22, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
I had actually intended to clarify the skin-related notes on this article a couple of days ago, looks like I forgot. Will do so now. —Idris User Idris signature.png 13:50, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
Thank you both :) -- kazerniel (talk) 12:34, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Bloodbound weapons can also drop from the Mystic Forge now, since they reworked the unid gear i think

Blooudbound Weapon Levels[edit]

The Bloodbound Weapons seem to have low levels. I had my level 80 toon equip a BB greatsword then threw it into the Mystic Forge with three level 80 Rare non-BB GS's. The Mystic Forge returned to me a level 68 Rare GS. According to how the MF works, that would mean a BB would have a level of 20 at most (68-3=65; 65x4=260; 260-80-80-80=20.). This experiment was prompted when I previously tried throwing 4 BB GS's into the MF and it returned a Rare GS of around level 30 (sorry for not noticing the exact level; I only noticed it wasn't level 80 after I'd already listed it in the TP and it soon was bought). Anyway, this is info we can add to the main page for BB weapons since they can be put into the MF. --Messenger (talk) 17:58, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Addendum: Tried it again, this time with a BB hammer + 3 level 80 rare hammers. Got a level 70 hammer in return. --Messenger (talk) 18:29, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
