New Pages?[edit]

Are new gameplay-related pages gonna go up since the beta is out now? Or should that wait until the final thing comes out? 71.255.114.114 14:31, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Ehmm... it was a joke. Yesterday, it was April 1st... ^_^ · LOQUAY · 14:38, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Ok, um...[edit]

So April Fool's Day is over, and the hi-jinx that ensued were suitably hilarious. However, with all the straight-faced replies to this subject both on the guru and here, I have only one question: did any objects called "Beta Keys" actually drop anywhere? I mean, obviously the "promotion" wasn't real, but I'm confused as to whether fake "keys" dropped just for fun, or whether every forum containing only deadpan reports of drops was just an extremely rare case of every single involved person playing along and not one single person ruining the joke. I know that the page says that the drop rate is "extremely low" (and links to "zero" on wikipedia), but I, being the gullible fool that I am, cannot rest until I know exactly what happened on that fateful day.
(tl;dr -- did the joke extend so far as to include actually dropping fake keys?) Thanks in advance.  :) 67.85.184.98 05:29, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

I wrote the part with the "beta key drop", and, as far as I know, no actual beta keys dropped in-game. There is the off chance that someone in Anet read this and had a little fun actually dropping them, but that is very remote. So I guess you can savely assume no keys dropped, ever. --Xeeron 10:53, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I think Fenyx's report of a drop in Lakeside County Hard Mode is a 'give away'..... --Max 2 23:57, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
There is plenty of good stuff in the drop reports if you check the links:
  • Lady Glaive was captain of the Queen of Fools
  • Rift Wardens were famously removed from tombs some years ago
  • There are no baby dragons spawning in Glint's lair
  • The rabbit in lake side is famous for being un-charmable (and asaik un-killable)
  • The Unseen are, well "unseen", since you never meet them --Xeeron 17:30, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
And to what i added, Its a removed material from a removed NPC in a removed town.--Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.png 22:18, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Getting to Lakeside County in Hard Mode is easy. Finish the Prophecies campaign in NM, travel to Old Ascalon in HM, fill your skillbar with speed buffs to get up to 88mph and then get hit by Lightning Strike. Killing Gwen is the hard part. She's worse than Mallyx. (Srsly though it is a joke and I was just playing along.) Fenyx 00:36, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Lol yeah, that's what I figured. And I definitely got all of the jokes and references, and realized how silly all of the drop locations were (like being killed by the shing jea cows and getting the key from your own corpse, or seeing a wammo kill the base defender and see it drop). However, as an ardent misanthrope, I am a firm believer in the ridiculousness and stupidity that invariably results when large amounts of people congregate on the internet, so I was instantly suspicious when not a single person on the guru thread ruined the joke or did anything but play along. Ah well lol. Thanks for confirming.  :) 67.85.16.192 00:59, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
First rule about the internet my IP freind. No long words... D: --Neil2250 , The Zoologist User Neil2250 sig icon5.png 10:33, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Protection[edit]

I would like to protect the beta key hunt page and this page, its a joke, it was fun, its over. But its still fun to look at. Occasionally some person finds it though and decides to edit it, put up a delete tag, ect. Not just IPs, but a few members to.--Corsair@Yarrr 03:55, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Yep, I've joined that list of members >_<. It's great to have some lols, and the category and notice at the top don't make it clear that it is a joke. ,,"Klumpeet",, 06:43, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I disagree. The very first and last thing you see on the page are indicators of the fact that this was a joke. Not only that, but if you put your mouse over certain links, then it even further shows this. Honestly, when you first look at a page, you should look at the tags on it, like maybe in case it has spoilers or needs to be deleted. Ignoring those tags is a huge mistake. EiveTalk 08:05, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Sry, total typing fail, I meant they do make it clear. ,,"Klumpeet",, 08:32, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah, in that case, never mind. But for all the people who disagree, see my above comment. EiveTalk 09:15, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Even though Klumpeet so graciously demonstrated that actual members do get duped by it? Take a look at the edit history, the majority of the revisions have been reverts and page clearings. It was protected at one point, I would just like to make that a little more permanent.--Corsair@Yarrr 18:47, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
From a look at the history, there have been just 2 reverted edits since april. Hardly worthy of protection. --Xeeron 14:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
And one of those two was self-reverted. I agree with Xeeron. pling User Pling sig.png 17:13, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
