Talk:Ballista

As of beta weekend 3, the supply cost is 30 for both arrow carts and ballista. There is confusion about this, because damaging the build site will require more supply for siege weapons to be built. Tweaks to supply costs of siege weapons will likely change after launch, but please verify any changes made are accurate. Ceeps 16:31, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Ceeps

Plurality[edit]

<nerd>Love how this is one of the few pages to correctly use plural of ballista, it's ballistas everywhere else</nerd> --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 15:14, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Confused[edit]

File:Deployed Ballista.jpg|thumb|Deployed Ballista Screenshot Why is it that for Catapult a screenshot was preferred over concept art, but the reverse is true for Ballista? ~ 1Maven (talk) 16:37, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

What is the question here? Both pages appear to be using screenshots for images, and both have concept art in galleries... Would you mind elaborating. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 16:53, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
I felt that the prior (and current image) image appeared to be concept art. I uploaded a screenshot (see thumbnail) to replace it, saving the prior image into the gallery. This was reverted back to the prior image, whereas for Catapult a screenshot was preferred. ~ 1Maven (talk) 17:23, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Both File:Deployed Ballista.jpg|50px and Ballista.jpg are actual ballistae taken from the game (ie screenshots and not concept arts). I believe that the current image (the latter of the two listed here) is of better quality. The current image is of a better angle and has a higher resolution that the one that you've posted. In short, the better photo of any page should be used regardless of source. Please take a look at Help:Uploading images in regards to specifically what I am talking about. Also, Maven's version has the object nameplate in it. That's generally undesirable, since the same model can be used in different places with different names - optimally, the wiki could use the same image for each of the different names, but with a nameplate in the image, that can cause confusion. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 02:40, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
I applaud the effort to enhance the vocabulary by exchanging “undesirable” for “not a good thing”. While striving to choose the perfect adjective to express your sentiments, were these contemplated? Unwanted? Unwelcome? Uninvited? Objectionable? Adverse? Detrimental? Unattractive? Inquiring minds, and all that ;)
Is there any way to suppress the nameplate, which appears when I hover the cursor over the catapult, to increase the contrast and highlighting of the image? For NPCs the nameplate appears above the head and is easily cropped out. ~ 1Maven (talk) 12:14, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
Well, for starters, hide your UI using CTRL+SHIFT+H. That will hide everything, including nametags. For the outlines that appear when hovering over an NPC/object, disabling post-processing in the settings completely eliminates that issue, along with any glare effect that was present. this section might help a bit more. —Ventriloquist 13:06, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
