Talk:A Study in Gold
Why?[edit]
Why would you go through the trouble of getting all the quotes from each tablet and not put down how to get to each tablet? That's just rude. --Lustre Of Havoc 話 08:09, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- It's dealing with the lore about the Exalted and the history of Tarir, it is not supposed to be a guide to show how to get to each of them. If you are looking for a guide, you can find it on dulfy.net. dulfy guide. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GihonOfVabbi (talk • contribs) at 08:20, 5 November 2015 (UTC).
- Except this is a wiki, which should have all information, INCLUDING how to get to them. I'm not saying it shouldn't have the lore, I'm saying that it needs a description on how to get to each of these pieces of lore. I don't need a guide, because I already have them all, without using Dulfy. Just thought that it needs to be here, too. Also, you should really sign your name to your comments. --Lustre Of Havoc 話 09:28, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- Meh, not everyone adds everything to the wiki. Instead of complaining about stuff not being there, find it and add it yourself. Konig 10:40, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- It is an article about the achievement, so it should be about how to get to each tablet. The tablet text can be on this article too. I've updated the article accordingly, but we really need maps with markers (height markers preferably too). -Chieftain Alex 11:03, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Feedback 2015/11/10[edit]
For the "Northgate: Where We Lay Our Masks to Test", you need the mastery Exalted Acceptance to gain entrance. I think that should be added to its description! --98.253.73.49 02:32, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
Re: Lore discrepancy[edit]
I don't see how mentions of Glint's death are a lore discrepancy. Her big "thing" is that she's prophetic, and Tarir was specifically built to watch over her egg after her death -- I think it's pretty obvious they all knew what was going to happen while they were in stasis.76.196.236.118 22:20, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- The Forgotten said she died centuries before she did. We know that Glint foresaw her own death, but she was still alive - and to all they knew potentially capable of preventing her death - when the speech was said. Either way, a dev caught wind, confirmed it was an error, and put in a fix for the next update. Konig 01:29, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
I've just been doing this and when I read the walkthrough the info for piece 5 stuck out as a discrepancy for me. I checked it while doing it and it no longer mentions Glint's death. The text for piece 5 part two now says "Glaust herself was a defender of civilization, at great risk to herself. She understood the potentially dire costs of betraying Kralkatorrik, but she put the world's welfare ahead of her own.". I think they noticed this discussiong.. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 109.157.101.143 (talk) at 20:11, 21 September 2016 (UTC).
Piece 9, possible misconception[edit]
Hiya, it was brought to my attention through the reddit comment here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/477ngg/help_us_rguildwars2_you_are_wikis_only_hope/d0bmk4u that the text for pedestal 9 probably should not link to guilded hollow but to the golden cave from LS season 2. I'll leave this up here for a bit and if no one has strong oppositions, will remove the link to guilded hollow. -Darqam (talk) 15:35, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Interesting thought! I don't agree, however. There's evidence in favour of it being a reference to Guilded Hollow:
- They refer to it as a "hollow". Granted, one could describe the cave as a hollow as well, but it seems more likely to me that they're directly referencing the place named Guilded Hollow.
- Pedestal 8 unequivocally refers to Lost Precipice. This gives precedent for the mention of the other guild hall in #9, and helps us draw their path on the map: going from LP to GH to Tarir is simpler than going from LP to the Cavern to Tarir.
- --Idris (talk) 16:54, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- Doubly so since the only tie Lost Precipice has to any of the three golden locations is the crystal in the guild halls - it seems likely that's what the Forgotten had done as part of Glint's Legacy in those two locations. If it were the cave, I think it'd mention the cave and hollow, rather than Lost Precipice and hollow. Konig 12:13, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Nr. 12 and 8 on the screenshot map are mixed up[edit]
The Description texts are correct, but the signs on the map are wrong. I got nr. 12 now and I was at the high position, but nr. 8 I still got to do. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.91.208.199 (talk) at 15:50, 10 June 2016 (UTC).
- Ok, now I found nr. 8. They're just really close together. Sorry —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.91.208.199 (talk) at 15:58, 10 June 2016 (UTC).
Number 7: Great View of a mighty tree[edit]
The Directions to get to this tablet are a bit over the top. There is a ledge just by the staircase at the end of the #3 tablet's platform. It is on a tiny ledge off that. I spent like 5 minutes searching for it the way it said and it took me 20 seconds when I just went over by number 3 and looked for it. Primeortis (talk)
- Hi! Would you be able to show me in-game? If I can get a better idea of exactly where it is I can edit the information to be more clear. Muirellthe Moon 22:21, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- I made a recording of the easier route. Use this to make a better description. Link heads to a youtube vid I made. https://youtu.be/V3cBtQpf9XA Primeortis (talk)
- Thank you so much! Really appreciate that you took time to make an upload a video for this. :D I'll update the description using this video either tonight or tomorrow! Muirellthe Moon 00:12, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
