Remote Controlled Golem Chess

RC Golem is a minigame, described as an asura version of chess in which two players compete in turns to defeat each other's miniature golem. The feature was removed in the September 2014 Feature Pack, but returned in the Heart of Thorns expansion.

Mechanics[edit]

A RC Golem Board

Game boards can be found in Lastgear Standing (Auric Basin) near the Ancient Golem Part Hero Challenge with one RC Golem Controller on each side. Two players can participate in a game by interacting with the controllers or, if only one player is present, the opposing side will be controlled by the game. If a player leaves a two-player match, the game will take control of the absent player's golem as long as one player continues playing.

The game board is divided into three rows and three columns, with golems starting at opposite corners. Players take turns moving their golem and, if within range, attacking the opposing golem. The goal is to defeat the other player's golem. Power-ups spawn and other effects take place on the game board throughout the game.

Skills[edit]

While controlling a golem, weapon skills are replaced with golem controls.

Power-Ups[edit]

There are four different power-ups, each modeled after the four elements, that spawn at regular intervals on unoccupied squares.

  • Air - Blasts random squares.
  • Earth - Attack opponent directly, regardless of position.
  • Fire - Blasts all squares.
  • Water - Heal damage.

Notes[edit]

  • The original game boards were found in Metrica Province and originally contributed toward the Support Doola's golemancing research Renown Heart before it was removed. They are still there, though they are not playable.
  • RC Golems are healed by skills like Soothing Mist or Healing Rain, so games could last forever if there is someone around with passive healing ability or using active skills to heal them.
