While Li is busy wriggling his way into Ihn's good graces, I'm stuck watching the dead crawl.
The ruins are spilling over with Risen. If we can't claim the city on our own, I wouldn't be surprised if the "citizens of Old Kaineng" did the work for us. They're already stirring up trouble in Grub Lane. Couple of casualties a week...and most of the bodies find their way back to the ruins to rot.
You'd think after a hundred years their numbers would start going down, but...they're not. More and more Risen crawl out of every shaft of the drowned Undercity like maggots from a corpse. I shudder to think how many are lurking beneath my feet at this very moment.
It's not glamorous work, but if I can find the source of this magic...whatever it is...we might be able to win the war before it's even begun. But that might be wishful thinking.
