Armor and outfit screenshots

The aim of this project is to create nice images of every armor set and outfit in the game.

Process

Armor
  1. Find a good location.
  2. Equip the armor set.
    • Apply the armor set to all six pieces of armor.
    • Make sure the helm, shoulders and gloves are displayed.
    • Dye each piece such that each slot uses a different colour. Where possible, try not to make the armor look unattractive and avoid using entirely dark dyes.
  3. Take the two screenshots (front and back) during daytime conditions.
  4. Upload a jpg under the correct name to the wiki. Use {{armor gallery image}}.
Outfits
  1. Find a good location.
  2. Equip the outfit.
    • Either keep the default dyes or choose appropriate colors. Where possible, try not to make the outfit look unattractive and avoid using entirely dark dyes or too similar colors.
    • Make sure the helm of your armor is displayed (this affects the outfit helm).
  3. Take the two screenshots (front and back) during daytime conditions.
  4. Upload a jpg under the correct name to the wiki. Use {{armor gallery image}}.

Good locations

The aim with screenshots is to have a neutral and non-distracting background, with the light falling on the front of the character. Only take screenshots during the day.

  • Lion's Arch - east of the Diverse Ledges Waypoint . Sea views.
  • Edge of the Mists - bright maps with no day-night cycle. Pick one of the ledges by the initial waypoints.
  • Hall of Monuments - not affected by day-night cycle (visually at least), good if you render the images afterwards.

Tips

  • A larger image can be taken with either the monitor set to portrait mode, or by using graphics card enhancements.
  • Sometimes a better angle can be gained by having somebody else take the screenshot of you.

Quick and lazy options

Although ideally a screenshot will be taken per the above guidance, any image is better than no image. In this case, either the preview panel (accessed by right clicking on a piece of armor or an outfit that you have not unlocked), or the outfit section of the hero panel will suffice for a quick screenshot. Obviously these images will be far smaller than a proper image, and will display a bit of the user interface - the intention is always to replace these images at a later date.

Tasks

  • Upload screenshots for each new armor and outfit set after updates.
    • Optional: Note down the dyes used in the image summary.
