Explorer Geargrind is a Durmand Priory explorer found beside the giant marionette at Marionette's Landing, studying its mechanics.

What have you learned so far from the marionette wreckage?

Biggest surprise so far was finding similarities in the inner workings of this marionette to the steam creatures all over this region.

Could Scarlet have build the steam creatures to begin with? They did fight alongside her minions...

(snort) More likely she reverse-engineered those things to control them, like she did with Queen Jennah's watchknights.

What makes you say that?

Her designs are a master class in deconstruction and reimagining. As long as we can avoid getting into her mindset, we'll learn a lot from them.

What happened here?

This was a testing site for Scarlet Briar's aethercannon weapon, mounted in that giant, wrecked marionette.

Are you suggesting that this...Scarlet built the steam creatures herself?

(snort) More likely she disassembled some of those things and did some reverse-engineering to learn how to control them.
