Notes[edit]
- If you do not eat them, you can bring them to Hal the Hermit, which is part of the Hungry Hal achievement.
- The apple trees are per character, per map instance. There are at least 7 trees in the Osprey Pillars area, and at least 7 in the Barrier Spires area. Thus it is possible to get all 50 apples for Hal in one day by using 4 characters or 4 map instances, or a combination of both. Trees do not reset on the daily reset, but instead have their own timer.
- An Engineer swapping kits while carrying an ember apple will lose it.
- Interacting with environmental objects (eg. Valuable Eggs) will cause you to lose it.
- Waypointing while carrying the apple will not cause you to lose it.
- Dropping the apple will despawn it. Originally it was possible to drop it and pick it back up, but this was patched in an update due to an exploit.
- Using a Thermal Tube does not drop the apple, so it's possible to pick up an apple, then going to the Castaway Circus Waypoint, then jumping straight into the Thermal Tube next to it. At the top of the arc, switch to your glider, then Griffon, and fly all the way to Hal the Hermit. Note that gliding alone will land short.
