Hi Relyk. Sorry, I'm not too advanced on the coding. I just used what I found at Template:Anomaly to make a new page. Just changed the parts I understood. Titus The Third User titus the third.png 23:55, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
It generates a table of recently added discrepancies with the descriptions. More useful than looking at a category page alone.--Relyk ~ talk < 00:14, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Nice, let's add it! Titus The Third User titus the third.png 17:24, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
How to fix blank descriptions (I think it's when lore discrepancy contains a ref tag)? --BryghtShadow (talk) 17:46, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
Don't worry about it, as long as the title is there we can find out ourselves. And yes it was the ref tag. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:28, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Interesting[edit]

I just thought I'd jump in and thank you lore experts on categorizing these, it will prove very helpful in the future! – Valento msg 14:19, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Began on a request by Bobby Stein to document all lore discrepancies so that they can fix them (if/when they have time and in the order of priority that they deem fit for them). I'll be in the background until my head stops pounding.... then go through thingies. Konig 19:19, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
I, too, wanted to just express gratitude for this page existing. Knowing that there's a central location for any "lore bugs" to be pointed out is great! Koviko (talk) 17:57, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Updates by Dev[edit]

Hi, all. I've gone through and made some fixes based on these. It will be awhile before they're live as they have to go back through editing and localization, but they're on their way. Thanks again for doing such a bang-up job of finding these anomalies.

* Ferro's statue text: fixed
* Mazdak's brag -- unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to fix this. It's voiced and more importantly, it's in a cinematic which makes it impossible to change. We'll just have to chalk this one up to Mazdak being really old and crusty, and rewriting history in his own mind. Sorry. The technical challenges of changing this are too expensive at this stage.
* Azabe Qabar -- There's a funny story behind the Orrian language we used. We had to abandon using it in the game because QA couldn't test it. It's not a 1:1 alphabet where A is a single symbol and B is a single symbol. It's more complicated than that. So, while it's super awesome, and Matthew Medina made it beautiful and complex, it was too complex for us to test properly (too time-consuming and risky). The possibility that someone would mistype a word and accidentally turn it into a cuss word was too high. Voila. That's the reality of game design. So, this won't be fixed.
* Erik Oevermar -- I changed his line to one of his other ones that we recorded, but didn't use.
* The Six: Being or Playing Gods -- I've changed the line to read "this book by Xakk, written in 1326 A.E.". Thanks for catching this!
* Vekk's Thesis -- I've attributed this work to Xakk as well, and removed reference to it being ancient.
* Althair -- I've rewritten this conversation so it makes more sense.
* Aurielo the Survivor -- I've removed that portion of the conversation. It may have referenced an event that didn't end up being built.
* Moulevian Calendar -- The conflict here is between the reality of game design and needing to fit the calendar properly. When we introduced the Journal, we committed to fitting our Living World releases in a specific timeline. The unfortunate reality is that we can't always release new releases one right after the other -- especially not if you want them to be as awesome as you (and we) want them to be. I understand that this disconnects the calendars, but Tyria is a fictional place, and you can't expect time to flow exactly as it does in the real world. We learned this lesson too when we realized we could not keep to a truly monthly schedule and maintain the quality bar we demand. At the time I made those statements about aligning the calendars, our goal WAS to align the calendars. That did not turn out to be possible. You're just going to have to suspend disbelief on this one. :)
* 1320 Wintersday Tournament -- changed to Lion's Arch Tournament
* Historian Merry -- What she says specifically is this: "After they conquered all their enemies, they turned on one another. Lust for knowledge gave way to bloodlust. They got meaner, dumber—and if the few artifacts we’ve found are any guide—a lot uglier too." I don't see this as a lore discrepancy. Merry is using colorful language or hyperbole or whatever you want to call it. And I don't disagree with her. She's not suggesting that they grew an extra limb. The difference between how a smart/gentle jotun would look and how a violent, stupid jotun would look is obvious to me.
* Old Pillar -- date changed to 1078
* Unfinished Dwayna Statue -- Removed reference to Old Krytan.
* Gwen's Gravestone -- changed to "ancestor"
* Mordremoth -- It was never stated that player characters didn't know the dragon's name. And it makes no sense that they wouldn't. The players had not heard its name. We give the PC a lot of information that the player doesn't have on a regular basis. The plan was to incorporate ancient books that revealed this information during the release, so it was a surprise and fun for the player. But, if the books have been out there all this time, then why wouldn't the world know the name? In hindsight, we should have revealed the name in-game via an NPC prior to this, so players would have an excuse for knowing it that they experienced themselves. We learned something from this experience about how better to roll out in-game information. It does not, however, qualify as a lore discrepancy.

Again, much thanks for helping us improve the game. :) I'll leave it to you all to pull the "Lore discrepencies" that have been fixed, once you have a chance to confirm they were fixed.

This is exciting! Koviko (talk) 18:30, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you Angel. It's obvious that you've really taken your time with the list, and not only fixed a lot of them - but also given us feedback on the ones you haven't. Your reply exceeds all the expectations I dared to have. So, really, thanks again for being so thorough! Titus User titus the third.png 21:23, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for responding and in depth too, Angel! Much appreciated. Speaking of the Mordremoth naming issue, could it be possible for the writers to retroactively "fix" this by adding a line or two in Pact Tyria which mention his name? For example, a good candidate for this could be The Elder Dragons, a book found in Durmand Hall in Divinity's Reach which already discusses the known Elder Dragons but only lists four of them at the time of this writing. If Mordremoth's name was already widely known by the time the Personal Story took place, then surely this informative book could have a section about Mordremoth in it? To keep him more of a mystery, the book could have less information about Mordremoth than the other known Elder Dragons and stating that unlike the four dragons listed there, there are less surviving details about Mordremoth from ancient texts etc. Adding a reference to Mordremoth to that particular book would not only solve the issue of people already knowing his name (as many players will likely read the books in the hall if they wander around DR) but would also serve as a neat explanation how Kasmeer knows it as well and is the one to mention the name Mordrem when referring to the dragon's minions in Living World season 2. Perhaps she visited the Durmand Hall in her spare time and read the book along with other tomes in there? ;) --Kossage (talk) 19:33, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure all the changes listed by Angel above has gone live now. Probably did as part of the 6/23/15 patch. I don't have much time for gw2 or wiki'ing at the moment, so if someone wants the job to go through them all and update the articles (with new content + past content in trivia), that'd be great. If not, I'll certainly see to it myself, but that'll be sometime far far away in the future. Titus User titus the third.png 16:24, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
