It's generally considered rude and arrogant to slap a ban template on a user's userpage, not only because the template (on GuildWiki, at least) is hideous, but it's someone else's userpage. Not to mention anyone can remove it and then not appear on the category. Then you'll get the fake templates coming up, like Warwick's on GWiki, which is just the annoyance without the "benefits" (the category). What are you going to do then, have a revert war? Or post it on the noticeboard?

Take out that ugly middle man and put it on the noticeboard in the first place. It also gives people the chance to discuss if that person should or shouldn't be banned, giving the admins more feedback from users. Actually yes. Especially when you have to type it in every time to see that image/link to it. I've never, for the two years I've been on GuildWiki, seen a problem with people naming an image the same thing, and EVEN IF THEY DID, it's so easy to fix (name it something else for god's sake) that the extra typing is more of a hassle than what purpose it does serve. Organises the guild and user images, makes them easier to find through the Special:Prefixindex, makes sure they can be easily categorised and maintained, makes sure you know to whom the image belongs to (as some images are often reuploaded by other users). Technically, no. It's how I uploaded my sig initially (shorter + conveys the same message was my reasoning). Shewmake eventually moved it because I guess it wasn't good enough. Now there's a *lot* of double-redirects. Looks like a couple people figured they'd fix it and then decided not to, after all. Funny how that works, eh. Easy way out?
