The stuff below is ancient history (last edit by me on 30 December 2007), dating back to the time when I played GW1 (or at least cared about it). I did end up playing GW2, and given that I've had occasion to contribute at least once since release, I should probably update this page. But until then, note that this page is out of date and I may not have looked at it or the things it links to in years. Any of the opinions here may be wrong and I may not even agree with them anymore. If you wish to contact me in this game (e.g if you're an old friend or enemy from the GW1 days, my PvE main is Tiding of Bloodshed and I'm on Yak's Bend.
Ancient History[edit]
I'm a sysop(currently not very active) on PvXwiki and occasionally go to GWW or Guildwiki... same username at all of them as here. If you want to contact me in game, hahahaha! I rarely play GW anymore, but Edru Viransu is my IGN.
I will readily admit that I am mostly here to kill time. I'm not entirely sure if I'll even get GW2 yet.
So, here's my viewpoint about the policy and administrative system I think the GW2W should have:
- Guidelines, not policy. Many of the things handled by policy on GWW would be better as non-specific guidelines, allowing room for administrative discretion.
- Trust your sysops. Don't put anyone in a position of power that you don't trust. And give those people that you put in that position of power because you trust them to use that power wisely discretion in the use of their power.
- Policies should not forbid climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman. While the bit of humor that this refers to at wikipedia has a very good point(don't disrupt the wiki to make a point), policies should not be so utterly specific. A policy should prohibit disruption of the wiki in general, not just specific instances of disruption. The two most essential policies(and also the least essential to have as actual policies) are Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Don't be a dick and Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Don't disrupt the wiki.
- Ignore all rules. Improving the wiki is more important than following policy. In addition, the spirit and intent of the policy is more important than the wording of the policy.
- Product, process, policy. The most important thing is the quality of the wiki as documentation. After that, consensus and the methods used to achieve it. Finally, least important is policy. This is related to Ignore all rules.

Notes to self[edit]
- DE is always right, despite his continual surprise at the idiocy of human beings and is optimal choice, based on current data, for benevolent dictator/bcrat.
- 58.110.142.135's comments are to be ignored except when it is necessary to refute his arguments to prevent people from thinking his opinions are valid.
- Tanaric also seems to often be right, and may be a good choice for benevolent dictator.
- Remember to give Eloc second chance. Maybe Grinch is right, maybe he is not as obnoxious and stubborn as he seemed on PvX(seriously, giving every build that didn't work in every type of PvP and everywhere in PvE 0 univeresality? wtf?).
