Question[edit]

On the area pages, e.g., Plaza of Melandru, why are you using the map icon template for each individual line? It should be set up as how, for example, Cathedral of Zephyrs is - that is, how I had Plaza of Melandru until you altered it. Konig/talk 23:26, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

Good to know - they were being done two different ways, so I made them all the same. I guess I picked the wrong way. Bye the way - do we add Noble, Citizen, Child etc to the NPC lists or not? I would like to do things the right way, so any advice is appreciated.Surriela 23:54, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
As I said in response to you posing the question on the Cartographer project talk page, yes, we do. All NPCs and objects (including environmental weapons) should be documented on area pages (PoI and landmark pages, I'm not so sure of...). Konig/talk 05:34, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Oh, and if you notice a manual category for the zone the location is in - e.g., [[Category:Divinity's Reach]] - on non-zone articles, you can remove that so long as the infobox is properly set up with the | within = parameter as it auto-categorizes. Konig/talk 05:35, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
One more note: NPC lists are to be bulletpointed with *, not : Konig/talk 05:38, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Konig - the template for Locations lists the NPCs with : not *. (I went to look after you pointed out my mistakes above.) Did that change?. I am seeing pages being done both ways... confusing. (And thank you for helping me understand this, I appreciate the help.) Surriela 22:02, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
I have never seen it not used with * until I saw your changes. A while back the location formatting templates were made with, as far as I know, little to no real discussion behind the original format. And they've changed quite a bit so they're fairly out of date (though at one point I did try updating them, dunno if others have since). So I'm guessing that someone just decided it was better and altered the template without discussion - or I just missed said discussion completely, not like I know all discussions on the wiki after all (doesn't help some folks don't always know the appropriate place for discussion topics thus some get scattered). Konig/talk 23:35, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
I looked at Lion's Arch areas and they are done with about half using : and the other half using *. I do think the template page should be updated (I do not have the knowledge that someone like yourself would have to do that.) I am going to post it up for discussion on the cartography page. Thanks. In general principle, bulleted lists are much preferred over non-bulleted, for any kind of list. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 00:43, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
As far as I'm aware, only the pets and resource sections of area/zone articles should not be bulleted. Konig/talk 01:18, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Tree's location[edit]

Are you sure its in the Western Commons? I remember checking its location and it was in the Plaza of Melandru when I did so. It may be on the edge of the two, which would mean coming from one direction it'd appear as if in one area, but from the other it'd be in said other's area. In these cases, I typically place the NPC/Object in which area makes more sense, and in this case I'd say that the Plaza of Melandru does. Konig/talk 19:22, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

It is right against the far wall - it technically could be either - it is right inside the pillars towards the vista in the middle. It makes more sense to be in the area with the plants to me. Surriela 00:52, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Bartender[edit]

I differentiated them by location - they have different dialogues and do different things in different locations. The one in the charr area is a merchant, one in Divinity is not. Maybe there is another way to document them, not sure. That was the generic page and can be deleted. I would, but I cannot.Surriela 23:52, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Dialogue Formatting Suggestion[edit]

When you do future pages with dialogue, I suggest not using formatting for the NPCs' dialogue and italicizing the player's dialogue; this makes the wiki format consistent with the game's format and would look like this:

NPC: Generic dialogue.
Player: Generic response.
