"What are Combat abilities?"[edit]

Per your question on Dash's WoG:

  • Abilities are the description beneath the health bar. It's short for "Abilities description" really.
  • Behavior are unique or uncommon actions the NPC takes, like retreating once hitting 25% health (though that's rather common) or having a downed state (like Toxic Courtiers). Sometimes these are better off in a Walkthrough on the relevant event, story instance, dungeon, or raid page though.
  • Effects are the icons beneath the health bar and abilities description - so the effects on itself. This can and does include the defiance bar.
  • Skills are the actual skills NPCs use - use the combat log to see their names.
  • Stolen skills are the skills thieves get when using Steal on them - Epic ranked foes and objects have none.

Additional notes because:

  • If there's ever a section that should be empty, delete it rather than saying 'none' or the like.
  • If it's a generic NPC that has multiple skillsets, such as the Son of Svanir NPCs, then as you see there use a === Level 3 Header=== with a basic, brief, and clear descriptor of the differences (such as different weapons used being the most common).

This and other questions should be answered at Guild Wars 2 Wiki:NPC formatting or other formatting pages in the Guild Wars 2 Wiki namespace but feel free to ask about more questions! Konig (talk) 13:07, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Since you're new and taking a lot of image shots (whether in general or just for Dash's WoG) just a couple notes I want to point out for improved quality:
  • Images of asura NPCs should always be taken on short characters (e.g., asura). This is to avoid the downward angle most of your asura shots have.
  • For NPCs that have length to them like charr and four-legged creatures (e.g., griffons, dogs, cats, teragriffs), it's typically preferred (but not overly cared about) to go after a three quarter view as full frontal can look weird or lack certain details and side portraits result in a bad size for the infobox (becomes too small to easily see).
Still, good work and thank you on the images you've provided. Dungeon foes and story NPCs are always tedious to get (especially personal story NPCs). Konig (talk) 13:24, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

BTW, you don't remove comments on talk pages. Konig (talk) 17:36, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Also, use lowercase 'a' for 'abilities', not "Combat Abilities", but "Combat abilities". Happy editing, and feel free to ask away if you still help with something. —Ventriloquist 21:04, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
