DSD is on the list already (inconspicuously), but I did forget the novels were a trilogy... Last edit before I hit the sack. I think I'll put them in some kind of order tomorrow. Mucho gracias. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 08:17, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

suspected reveal order[edit]

You kinda hit it exactly how i see it is. With a beta coming this year, that all seems about right. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 19:56, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

actually i just looked at some stuff, your list is missing something i think is kinda important... Upgrade components and optional equipment, like Crests, Marks, Talismans, and equipment like pendants, rings, etc... we know they exist, not what all they do... Do you think we'll find out useful information before release or not? ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 03:34, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Same here it seems her order may be close, I just can't wait for character creation details cuz i'll probably spend most of my first time on gw2 on there :)--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 08:25, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
lol, i'd expect everyone to start there xD ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 15:17, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Yea, but ill probably be there the whole day :P with the more options now it already takes me almost an hour to make a gw1 character lol xD--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 15:51, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
I guess the only reason I don't take long on actual creation is because I won't make one until I'm sure I know what I'm going to make... I hate digging through options cos then I end up unable to decide and then make nothing, or make everything... T~T ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 16:17, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I think thats the hard part for me in the new GW games...new creation options P:--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 16:45, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Crests have been talked about before, and marks and talismans follow the same set of rules, and are similar to a familiar concept, so (although it is still possible) I don't see them getting another article. Equipment might, but I think with how common rings and pendants are in fantasy RPGs they won't waste time explaining them, since they'll probably just provide non-armor bonuses like in other games of the genre. The only article I think they could make out of equipment would be armor design, and we all know that we've had enough design articles. On the topic of character creation though, I'll probably make my characters speedily, because I'm worried about losing all of the good names on the first day. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 16:55, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
if you have the space on GW1, reserve the names with new chars. Nobody can take a name that's already in use on a GW1 account. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 17:10, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
I am mostly wanting single word names (assuming they'll still allow that). I doubt that any two worded names that I want will be taken. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 20:20, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
I love the 1 word name system as all my 2 word names are taken in GW Q.Q now I'm still able to Ninja my own names <3 --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 04:50, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

WvW Article[edit]

What article are you talking about? ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 04:33, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Buffed was the name of the magazine. http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/buffed-magazine-article-buffed-de-t17935p2.html This article and a few other interviews have been giving more and more hints about WvW, makes me think they'll release some more details soon. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 04:42, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Sylvari may be sooner?[edit]

Tap-Repeatedly interview with Daniel Dociu from the beginning of April. He didn't say much, but invited tap to come back in a couple months to get more word on the Sylvari... We know that by July (the tradeshows), we'll have a lot of new, exciting information. That's around 3 months... With the Hylek, Krait, and now Quaggan blogs, I think it's building up for a Sylvari week, which will be one of the big summer reveals... What do you think about it? ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 05:37, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

I've always believed that the sylvari were being saved for last. Not only because of the redesign, but because it is the only race no one has ever seen before. We've all had a taste of the other four, and mostly know what to expect (although I don't think anyone was expecting the amount of cuteness added to the asura). Obviously that means that Anet has to spend as much time as possible making the sylvari perfect. The asura have most likely been finished for quite some time, and Anet has just been waiting for the best time to reveal them. Also, remember that there were only two weeks between the human and norn weeks. Which means that we could possibly (with a bit of pushing) have both the asura and sylvari weeks in the same month, and easily in the same season. As for the recent monster blogs, all of those enemies have a major presence on the Tarnished Coast, which is home to both the sylvari and asura, I don't really see why they would be building up to either, as both the sylvari and asura have been entirely absent from mention except for the asura's history with the skritt.
On a related note, I typed all of that assuming you had meant that the sylvari could be before the asura, and now I'm starting to doubt that is what you meant. If it isn't then this part is addressed to that. Looking back at my list, placing the sylvari after both the mesmer reveal and the character creation details seems a bit extreme... I doubt they'd release the character creation details without all of the races being revealed first, but I also don't think they'd put the sylvari week and mesmer reveal so close to each other... I'll have to think about that some more. Do you think the sylvari week will be before or after the mesmer reveal? -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 07:43, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
I think the mesmer reveal will be AFTER the Sylvari week and some mesmer skills in the vid. will be shown as used by a Sylvari. IMHO. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 08:53, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Well, we were told this summer has a LOT of info to excite us, not just simply exciting info... We were also told that there will likely be changes to plenty of things, minor changes, just to perfect stuff, and that the sylvari redesign has been complete for a while... On top of the beta being sometime in the later half of this year (i'd expect october/november, not december because then that's misleading, they're probably saving launch for around the new year), that would mean most of the important stuff should already be out, and we'll be getting really hyped for all of it... We'll probably get side details during THAT time, so i expect asura/sylvari/mesmer will be either before (maybe asura will be this week?) mesmer right at the end of next week (putting it around the 1st/2nd, read my speculation on dates of releases for why i think that), then sylvari will at least be revealed, the redesign, when the summer tradeshows begin, or a little before (the first one is july 21, that's about a month after asura then)... we'll get the tarnished coast all at the same time (since that's what's building up). We were originally told about changes to Kryta, lore about the humans, like the Seraph, then got Human Week... Then we hear about the Kodan, and we get Norn Week... Then we get technology and features (like crafting), then Charr Week... Now we've got Hylek, Krait, and Quaggan... So they're probably giving us the Tarnished Coast, both asura and sylvari (probably some space between infos just for the excitement to stay focused on one thing) and then getting our hands-on with both (including creation stuffs) after the tradeshows, or during summer interviews. After all, in order for asura or sylvari to play in a demo, it'd be really strange to not see their neighbors nestled in there as well...
So no, I didn't mean before asura (though that may be possible?), just sooner than people seem to imagine, like after everything else cos of that redesign. They've spent like a year redesigning it. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 19:19, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Seriousness[edit]

Many things seem very serious, I wonder how this will affect your gameplay and your view on GW2. =) *aims Glue Shot* Tomoko 07:50, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

I still love GW2, and consider it a game of higher quality than most blockbuster hits coming out this year and next (I'm looking at you FPSs). Of course, I can't help but find problems with things, and I would hope that if other people agreed with some of my views (see: The majority, if the majority liked it then I can suffer for their enjoyment) it might be possible to change GW2 for the better while it's still in development instead of getting patches for issues that could be fixed before the game goes live. Also I really, really wish they'd change Glue Shot's animation. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 01:08, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

On personal story[edit]

Those biography choices have an effect on your story more than just once. Of course there's very little gameplay footage of personal story now, but a couple of things can be said from the first few steps in story already; it does make a difference which member of your warband was your sparring partner or which social class you hail from. The former has direct influence on which kind of NPC follows you around (compare Maverick and Clawspur) or what kind of place your character's home is (friends' tavern vs. your own estate).

RPGs rarely give you any when it comes to following main storyline, and the personal storyline is such, but it still gives you some room to decide how it will be like. So far, your personal storyline should be modified by your:

  • Race
    • Q1
    • Q2
    • Q3
  • Profession
    • The profession question
  • Personality question
  • Any choices you make while advancing in game such as joining one of the Orders. There should be many and you're able to change them when you replay the story.

With race and profession choices, the total number of combinations is 7,047. So there's plenty of paths to take, and it's all your decision which. Compared to GW1, the option of choosing one of the five races is a huge improvement when it comes to story and choices. I don't recall seeing such biography/pre-character creation options in any other MMOs either, or even in single player RPG superstarts like Dragon Age and Mass Effect (ME loses to GW2 because of the profession question). Mediggo 09:07, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

The question is how much of an impact do those 7,047 choices make. With that many, I can't possibly imagine much more than a dialogue line change or two in a questline for 5,000+ of those choices, especially with fully-voiced NPCs. Yeah, MMOs are lacking in personalization and personal stories, but I feel like Anet took the wrong approach to this innovation, not that I mind having some choices, but I still consider it less "free reign" and more of picking doors. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 01:00, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
You should also keep in mind that NPCs, which you have saved for example, will remember what you have done for them. That's what they've been saying in the past at least, so dunno how true that is anymore. Lots of NPCs weren't fully voiced in the demo, so can't be sure whether or not they've been just referring to "chat bubbles" or full dialogue sections which pop up when you actually talk to someone.
It really depends how you take it. If you don't wanna believe you actually belong to College of Dynamics, but instead keep thinking of it being just another forced choice to make few NPCs say a different thing, it sure is unnecessary. But it seems pretty likely that especially these biography choices have major impact on personal story. Maverick seemed to have more than just a couple lines, and considering differences between your own estate and parties there, and Andrew's tavern with bar fights... They're certainly not the same, and we haven't seen anything beyond storyline demos yet. Mediggo 08:13, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
