These are the extended stories of my characters. They will grow over time, based on their personal stories. I love to add flair, so it won't be just a "Dear Diary, Killed Zhaitan today. It was fun." ~Kio

Story Choices[edit]
I study all the elements, but I wear a circlet that symbolizes my love of fire. The hunger of flames and their burning destruction demand respect. Fire immolates and clears the path for new growth. Trouble may follow, but I use my charm to overcome it. I'm charming. No one can resist me when I'm at my best. I know just what to say to lighten the mood or bolster courage. I dreamed of a quest that calls me to action. It was a vision of the shield of the moon. The moon is a powerful symbol of healing and magic. Any who dream they're protected by the moon shall have faith and fortitude. I hope I'm worthy of such a vision. I believe that the most important of Ventari's teachings is "Where life goes, so too, should you". The world is a delicious and gorgeous place created for us to explore, enjoy, and protect. I will seek out the lessons in every experience, and as I grow, I will have more to offer in return. The Pale Tree awakened me during the cycle of dawn. Sylvari awakened at dawn are natural talkers, diplomats, and forward-thinkers. We are intimately connected with our surroundings and markedly empathic toward all, even other races.
Background Story[edit]
Her love for fire always set her apart. How could one of nature be so destructive towards it? Of course, it was the fire that consumed; she just wanted to find out how and why. Her nature as a sylvari made her curious, and how fitting it was that she wanted to know more about the destruction of what she held dear. It was, after all, part of what she saw in the Dream...
A human walked toward her and the centaur. The human bowed, and seemed to be glad that it was there. The human looked war-torn and exhausted. "Perhaps she wants to rest?"... Young humans akin to her left this grove with a taller, bulkier human. The human wept... The human was old, and looked like it was decaying. It wept, clearly out of sadness over the loss of the young ones that had left so many years before, and the bigger human that only returned every so often... The centaur added the human's name to the list of deceased. "Guardia Azureshadow... Who is this human?"... A norn came to my grove, its finger stopped on the name Guardia Azureshadow. The centaur was old, and the norn was young, yet they greeted each other as close friends. The norn left a gift for the centaur. He spoke some words, and left... Two norn came and met with a small female asura that had been here for a while. The asura smiled at their appearance, and together, the three left flowers at a tablet that the centaur left behind before leaving. "Who are these people, and why are they here? I must find out more..."
It was all so hazy now, but she still remembered it; the sadness it brought her always stuck with her. Why do we lose things precious to us? Who was the human? Who were the norn? Who was the asura? What purpose did they hold?
"I want to meet them," she thought as she woke up. "I want to know who they were." Her face was determined. The world was bright, and she had much to learn. The seasons took form in her hands, and she knew them to be elements. And so she crawled to the world with a curious mind and a loving heart, then went forward in hopes of learning about creation and loss.

Profession: Mesmer
Story Choices[edit]
A mesmer's mask creates an image. I choose to look out from behind a fanged dread. I'm a whisper in the night, eyes that glow in darkness. I stand in shadow, and my mask is the monster you fear. Trouble may follow, but I use my ferocity to overcome it. I'm ferocious. Threatening violence gets me further than anything else. I'm a natural, though I do try to use my powers of intimidation for good. I am a member of the College of Synergetics. As members of the College of Synergetics, we study how energy patterns form and alchemagical fractals propagate. Few beyond our college understand the philosophical and mystical complexities of our interests. We devoutly research the true nature of the Eternal Alchemy. My first creation was a transatmospheric converter. What unmitigated joy to be able to change the weather at my whim! If only the prototype had been more powerful. Nevertheless, the design was cutting-edge. My transatmospheric converter was a masterpiece of utter genius. I wish I'd had more funding. My first advisor, the one who taught me almost everything I know (almost), was Zinga. Mistress Zinga taught me that the best form of magic is good old-fashioned luck. She liked to say, "Planning ahead is for ninnies who think they can predict every possible outcome. The future is mutable! Go with the flow!"
Background Story[edit]
1107 AE. At 23 years of age, Adrian, a human mesmer, came to visit Rata Sum to see the technological prowess others cannot match. How surprising it was that this human was not another bookah; he became the first of many to correct an asura, and the first to change race. Noticing the primary transistor was improperly adjusted for their crystal array pattern, he alerted the Avatar Krewe of danger; this would have disintegrated the krewe from an excess of magical energy hitting the flux capacitor if not for his genius. With a small tweak, Adrian fixed what asura could not. He stepped into the beam. Medical testing proved that he was completely of asuran body. This became his first of many great projects. she read aloud.
"What do I need to know that for!?" Keyohh called over.
"It means you need to watch how you adjust that thing! You're related to him, so you should know that by now!"
She hated it when she was right. They say arguing with yourself is not a problem; only refusing to continue talking to yourself out of anger. She wasn't far from there.
The projects in these labs often took a krewe size of at least 2 people, but Keyohh preferred working alone. At a young age, she found ways to match her brain patterns with other beings, any other being, and to in turn read or control their mind. With effort, she learned to corporealize these illusions into duplicates of herself, which aided her in projects, including the more... risky tests.
"No, not that one! You'll send us all to the mists!"
"That's a funny joke. You know that's just a human thing!" another joined in.
"Oh right, because they still believe in those gods of theirs." more were jumping in to argue.
"THAT'S IT! I need a vacation. Girls, good luck with the A.U.R.A. generator..." and Keyohh walked out the door of the lab. More shouting was heard inside as to how the adjustment was to be made, followed quickly by a boom, and her head calmed. She headed toward Hoelbrak, to meet with the norn.
In her trip to norn territory, trying to learn how the "Great Spirits", as gods or deities, manage to transform the norn people, she overheard a norn tell a story that linked the teller to a human that took refuge in the Grove of the sylvari, east of her home. How strange it was that this human woman mentioned was so prevalent in both asura and norn history. How much more could this human have done?
Everything has a part in the Eternal Alchemy. That was one of the first things she learned. If her ancestor could do it, and the norn can do it, who else could do it too? Was she related to charr? Centaurs? Tengu? Hylek? Krait? That last thought made her shiver. "Oh well, onto the next project." A few clones popped up around her, ready to help. And then came the headaches.

Kaitei[edit]
Goto: Story Choices : Background Story : Continued Story
Character name: Kaitei Olafdottir
Race: Norn
Profession: Guardian
Story Choices[edit]
As a symbol of my dedication, I wear a fanatic's pauldron. Long ago, I determined my path, and nothing will sway me from it. I am stalwart in my beliefs and immovable in my loyalties. The weight of my pauldrons reminds me of the burden I carry. Trouble may follow, but I use my dignity to overcome it. I'm dignified even when up to my ears in mud. It's what makes people respect me. A serious, thoughtful demeanor is the route to success. The most important quality of a great hero is cunning. It takes guile to outwit an enemy with legendary style. Mental prowess keeps a hunter one step ahead at all times. At a recent celebratory moot held in Hoelbrak, I lost an heirloom. I inherited Romke's Horn, a magical ancestral heirloom passed down through generations. After one too many drinks, however, I wagered it on a contest of strength... and lost. When I was still a cub, I had a vision. A Spirit of the Wild spoke to me and offered its guardianship. That spirit was Raven. Raven, clever and wise, guides us with truths that others fear. He bestows a far-seeing clarity of mind. In my visions he spoke of riddles and opened my eyes to secrets that few others can see.
Background Story[edit]
Sit down, young ones, and listen to my tale...
At Hoelbrak
That was her father over there, sitting by the hearth, telling tales to the young norn gathered in Hoelbrak. Even with her young age, she doubted she'd ever make her own claim to fame. Disregarding her age and the fact that she had so much time to show her skill, she was an outcast by many around her.
You see, generations ago, humans had come to what was the home of Gunnar Poundfist. These humans lived with the norn for ages, and only about 50 years ago, had been blessed by Bear; shortly after, Raven, Wolf, and Snow Leopard followed Bear's blessing. She had Bear and the other great spirits in her, and could call upon them to change form just as any other norn. It was her human ancestry that others looked down on. That's why her father became a skaald - he told the stories of other, much greater norn.
An old friend came up to her as she sipped an ale, trying to ignore her father's stories. The boy reminded her of her inferiority, then challenged her ability...
Accepting was a huge mistake. The boy told her that she didn't deserve an old horn that had been passed down to her. This horn was given to her fourth great-grandfather when they were accepted as part of a clan at Gunnar's Hold. With it placed as a bet, she told him that she was just as strong as any other norn. The two went outside, and took the form of bear, and whomever felled the larger tree, standing at least 30 feet, and returned it back to the lodge was the stronger...
A spirit speaks
Her father took no haste finishing his tale, and they left the lodge to go home. He scolded her for losing the heirloom, but tuning it out, Kaitei looked up toward the statues of the Great Spirits. Why am I supposed to be the outcast? What are you trying to teach me? Then she had a vision.
The spirits began to light up on the hills. A booming voice with the roar of a powerful beast spoke first, "You are not alone. We believe in you. There is much power inside," ...then came a howl. "Sometimes a hunter needs a little help." Shortly after, a wild cat's screech. "We are always here, even if you do not recognize so." Silence fell, and the hills went dark.
"But why me?" she called up at the statues. "Why must I go through this? I have no history, no glory to live up to. I have no future to forge. I am a nobody, going nowhere!" She fell to her knees, crying in the snow. "I have no strength, I have no pack, I have no support. I can't even fell a tree. I am a mockery to all."
"Young one!" With a piercing caw, Raven rose out of the statue, glowing in the cold dark of the snow, and flew down to her. "You must learn that your mind is a great weapon. Every great hunter must be a great thinker if they hope to outsmart their target." Kaitei went to interject, but Raven opened its beak, speaking words. "Not everything is as it appears. A raven cannot speak the words you speak, but look at me. Your people would have been lost many a year ago if not for the guidance of myself and the others." Raven looked back to the hill, then back to Kaitei, staring into her eyes, emanating immense seriousness and gravity. "You have been blessed by our will. You have the right to find your own story. One day, everyone will talk about you, and not because you are of human ancestry. Remember that I have chosen you, young one... Remember that I believe you will find your true destiny. Fight in my name, and I will find a way to guide you..."
"Are you listening to me?" Her father looked sternly at her, but she was staring blankly at the hills. "Come on!" They continued walking.
Leaving home
That night, as she slept, she saw Raven again. You have a path... Will you walk it? She awoke in a sweat, despite the cold air. She grabbed her father's hammer he no longer used, stuck a pair of maces on her back, then took up her sparring staff and baton. It was cold outside, so she wrapped herself in robes and light mail. "Raven will guide me..." she thought to herself. She hastily painted a pair of eyes in a dark swatch on old pauldrons, and strapped them to her shoulders. As she walked out the door, her father stopped her. "What do you think you're doing! You are not yet of age!" But she was ready. She knew it, and Raven knew it. Father, please understand! Raven-" He pulled off his buckler. "You will need a shield if you plan on leaving." She took it in awe, then left.
"Good luck, I hope next time I will be telling your story."
