Template talk:Mastery infobox

I've quickly rolled this out over all of the mastery pages so that I can use {{mastery table}}, but I don't know the correct terminology, only what is already documented on the mastery page. I might need to rename the "region" and "track" parameters.

I also need to work out how to fix the "has game context" value :( -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:28, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

There are 256x256 icons in the .dat for each mastery step. They don't tell us much about the mastery, but they look pretty! Is there a place for them in the infobox? Tyndel (talk) 13:37, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
It looks like the property itself is messed up. Here's the content of the SMW warning message:
"Mastery" is not in the list of possible values (Event, Effect, Item, Location, NPC, Object, Outfit, Recipe, Renown heart, Skill, Skin, Story, Trait, World boss event) for this property.
Note that it doesn't have "Adventure" which was added to the property page back on Feb 6. Also the warning is still showing up even though you've removed all of the enumerations from the property. We'll probably have to get Justin to do something directly to the database. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:44, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
@ Tyndel, sure we can get those in. Something like how we display maps NPCs etc?
@ Ishmael, I was thinking we could delink the property from the infoboxes, let the wiki process those, purge the property page, then readd to the infoboxes, but if Justin can fix it that would be excellent. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:48, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Or more like the trait icons? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:57, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
I uploaded one as an example. edit: I think we should reduce the size :P. Tyndel (talk) 14:02, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

XP Needed[edit]

As xp varies (1,270,000 for Revered Antiquarian; 254,000 for Follows Advice etc) a needed xp should be added to the template, also for the mastery table template. Asuka (talk) 09:53, 8 August 2015 (UTC) Edited Asuka (talk) 10:00, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

I didn't enter the beta, so I need some background information... is the experience actually "spent" (removed from your bar - this would be a cost), or is it only a requirement (e.g. you reach a certain amount of XP and you can do another mastery tier - req). I just want to know so I name the property correctly. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 13:00, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
After reaching level 80, you can spend Mastery Points to unlock mastery tracks. You select one as your active track. All experience you earn goes into the active track. You complete the track by filling the experience bar, much like you gain a level by filling the experience bar. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:09, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
The first tiers of each track is unlocked to be selected. When you select a track all your xp go to it as Dr Ishmael said, and after the bar is full you can spend x points to "buy" the benefits of this tier and unlock the next. Additionally there is a difference between Heart of Maguuma and Pact Tyria mastery points. Atm it is not possible to earn Pact Tyria points, thus the first tiers of the two tracks can be filled but not unlocked. Asuka (talk) 14:34, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Also I now added a tier to this and the table as sorting was wrong with exalted mastery (tier 1 and 2 using the same cost while tier 2 name was ordered lower).

Tiny improvement[edit]

Change the link to the mastery track, so that it links directly to [[Mastery#{{{track}}}|{{{track}}}]] to avoid redirecting. – Valento msg 13:15, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Hmm, well I didn't know how many masteries there would be in the end so originally I was creating pages like Nuhoch Lore (similar to the way we document traits). If we don't want to do this then we can delete pages like Nuhoch Lore + link to mastery as you suggest. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:34, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
I would suggest following what we do for achievements, in general - make one page for each "category" (track?) of masteries, but don't create pages for every individual mastery. The existing mastery pages seem to have no information aside from what's in the infobox, and that can easily be presented in a table. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 17:45, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
I don't know about that, looking at some masteries there are quite some cryptic descriptions, and additional information could improve the quality of that stuff. For example adding information to language masteries could maybe help locate stuff that this mastery unlocks. Or if a certain region needs a certain mastery to reach. Asuka (talk) 22:55, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
I agree with Asuka here, at least for the time being. With such little information, in conjunction with the cryptic nature of the masteries, additional documentation may be required for each one. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 23:14, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
There's only 5 or so masteries per track, we don't need individual articles. Add notes on the mastery track page.--Relyk ~ talk < 01:25, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
