So, we're mentioning gemstones and doubloons in the intro, but specifically excluding them from the list of upgrades? Any particular reason for that? --Felbryn 21:03, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- Because they already have their own pages. Gemstones in particular need their own page due to their use in crafting. You'd have to ask Relyk why he removed doubloons from the tables here, I didn't really care either way. —Dr Ishmael

- It's semantics, we can list doubloons because it's such a minor page but they should be treated in the same way as gemstones. Doubloons and gemstones being universal upgrades are trivial compared to their relevance in crafting, so having their articles describe the upgrade component aspect seems more suitable. You can add doubloons if it makes you uncomfortable, although I would just put separate sections for gemstones and doubloons--Relyk ~ talk > 21:38, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- I think, now, I agree with removing doubloons. They don't follow the same pattern as marks/seals/etc. - there are only 4 and they only affect 1 attribute. Adding them back to these tables would feel shoehorned. —Dr Ishmael 22:27, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- They don't need to be organized by level like they were before, but I think either doubloons and gemstones should be added or the heading should be changed to something other than "list of universal upgrades", because that heading implies that the list includes all universal upgrades, which is currently not the case. --Felbryn 22:40, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- Gemstones definitely need just a link to their own page, since there is so much more info on those available and it would make this page more crowded and confusing. Doubloons I'm not entirely sure about; while they are used in crafting unlike the crest family, there's so little to say about them that I think I'd rather just stick a table and description in this page to save on the clickthrough to such a basic article. --Ch8ese (talk) 09:34, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Can 2 of the same Universal Upgrade be placed into a 2-handed weapon?[edit]

Transmogrification of universal upgrades[edit]
Are gemstones the only type of universal upgrade that can be transmogrified from lower tiers to higher tiers? Or are there ways to transmogrify the other types of universal upgrades? --175.141.46.3 16:11, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
- They're the only ones, yes. You can also Mystic Forge runes/sigils for a chance to achieve higher rank (minor>major>superior), but that's it. —Ventriloquist 09:12, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- Your statement is false, there is another crafting recipe: Transmogrify Gold Doubloon, but it's extremely strange that there are no corresponding recipes for Copper->Silver and Gold->Platinum doubloons. --138.75.230.51 16:35, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
