Talk:Thaumanova Reactor (Fractal)

Do we need an article for this at this point? If it end up not being developed, then we definitely shouldn't keep an article on it, so I'd say leave both this and Fall of Abaddon as non-articles. Only after CP concludes and we know which one will be developed should we make an article for that one. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:04, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

I agree with you Ish. The purpose is to document the game as it is. At the moment neither this or the fall of Abbadon is in the game. This page is only relevant for the choice people are making in the cutthroat politics story, but the release page and the Ellen Kiel/Evon Gnashblade pages are more suited for that. As for the lore related part of the story they are telling, the Thaumanova Reactor and Abbadon page are telling the two possible stories.195.240.63.18 14:15, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
Honestly it was more added because someone created the Fall of Abaddon already and the red/blue contrast was making me annoyed. Granted, probably should have went more towards deleting the Fall of Abaddon page instead of adding this one. Vahkris (talk) 15:27, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
I suggest leaving it either way as it will help new players that read the Wiki understand the history of the game and it's current/future state. They will be able to follow along the decision path that current players are forging.--207.67.73.102 15:49, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
But as Vakhkris said, that decision path is already documented elsewhere. These two pages are currently adding nothing to the wiki that isn't on other pages. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:52, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
It was me and not Vakhkris, but your forgiven ;). To the (other ) IP in this conversation, the background and lore is allready documented elsewhere. I was waiting for a bit of feedback because of the hotness of the cutthroat politicians, but I'll remove the direct links from the featured page for both this one and fall of abbadon and add deletion tags so its in the proper lists showing.195.240.63.18 07:06, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
“that decision path is already documented elsewhere” – Care to point out where we already document what the two fractals would be about? The most I could find was just a mention. poke | talk 07:19, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
I don't believe it is currently documented, but there is a URL at the bottom of Cutthroat Politics that links to the relevant information on the official GW2 website. Rebani (talk) 08:13, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
I think the choice itself is all that's documented, but to be perfectly honest that's all there is at the moment. Other than the fact that the Fall of Abaddon fractal is the event taking place prior to GW1, we don't know much about the content of the fractals themselves...just the general event name of what it's about. Perhaps we could attach references to various mentions by devs to it, but there's not much info. Vahkris (talk) 13:44, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Sorry Poke, I assumed that 195.240's statement was accurate without checking for myself. If all we need to do is to to expand the documentation of this choice on Cutthroat Politics, then we should go ahead and do that so these pages can be deleted. The appropriate one can be re-created after CP is complete and we know which one will be developed.
Or, alternatively, redirect both of these to the section on CP that documents the choice. I've nothing against redirects, I just don't think we need actual articles when there's nothing known about them yet. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:14, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
But you know people will keep trying to make pages for these untill the decision is made. Why not leave as is, and then turn the loser into a redirect to Cutthroat Politics? 67.82.209.53 14:28, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm completely fine with redirects until the outcome is known.--Relyk ~ talk < 14:29, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
I don’t think anyone will ever manually type “Thaumanova Reactor (Fractal)” and as such use that redirect, but I can live with that :P And yeah Ish, if we can get the information on these two articles to the release article, then everything it’s fine. Just don’t want to lose valid information if we don’t have it somewhere else :) poke | talk 16:10, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Thaumanova Reactor already sums up rather nicely what it was and what effects its destruction might have caused, but I thought it'd be useful to create a mention of the event/fractal known as Fall of Abaddon. Even if we know nothing about the fractal related to Fall of Abaddon, it is the first official (as far as I know) term for the battle between human gods, and mentioned in official GW2 source. A reader who follows the term from the official site to the wiki might want to learn more about the event itself. Other than that, I'm not really in favor of retaining the article on Abaddon itself as it currently is because it's just a copy of the GWW article, to which all mentions of Abaddon already link to. There is still a possibility for Abaddon to appear in GW2, however, if the fractal comes to pass and doesn't get scrapped out of the game, but currently that article doesn't really add any new info. Nevertheless, there is no "Thaumanova Reactor (Fractal)" mentioned in the release promotional text; Ellen barely refers to investigation on "Thaumanova Reactor explosion" whereas "Fall of Abaddon" is most likely either a new name for the historical event or the fractal itself. I added all relevant info to the Cutthroat Politics page, so these two can be deleted/hidden/whatever until the winner is chosen. Vahkris (talk) 18:27, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm going to go with redirects for now - they've existed long enough that they've been spidered-up by search engines, so redirects will probably be benficial for anyone searching for info on "the new fractals". I wouldn't argue against anyone who wants to delete, though. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:51, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
