Reasoning for having both step-by-step navigation instructions and URLs[edit]

I want to be as safe as possible since someone opening a support ticket will need to be entering sensitive account information. I put in both step-by-step navigation instructions and the URLs of all the relevant webpages in order to make it as clear as possible that the user is on a real, correct Support webpage. I think www.guildwars2.com is a reasonable starting point because that is more clearly trustworthy of a URL compared to those of the Support homepage and the Ticket form page. --Veron (talk) 08:45, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

"help.guildwars2.com" is called a subdomain, meaning it's owned by the same person/company as the base domain "guildwars2.com" and is just as trustworthy. There's no reason to walk the reader through extra steps.
You could also direct them to click the "Support" button right here. *points at top of page* —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:16, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
That makes sense. Personally though, I feel safest going through the absolute simplest URL. A lot of the phishers have "www.guildwars2.blahblah" subdomains on their fake websites, and I think there's some room there for reading error to miss that kind of thing, e.g. help.guildwars2.com/home vs help.guildwars2.com.home. That's a good point about the button the wiki page though, I'll put that in. Veron (talk) 17:17, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/03/13[edit]

The page could be updated, as the URL? listed is no longer the one a player is taken to when first contacting Support (it's no longer anonymous, as one can now, again, log in (at the Support site, though not necessary). I'm not sure how to edit it, because it depends on the language set in your browser. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 20:21, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

It looks like both help.guildwars2.com and support.guildwars2.com will redirect users to the same location with the appropriate language. Funnily enough, I keep ending at help. instead of the support., so I'm going to leave the links which we have showing alone. I'm going blind. Removed one link and added the new step. I'm afraid the page needs more work than that. First, I don't get taken to help.guildwars2.com/home, but to help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us (this is why I can't edit the link because I'm sure other users are taken to a different language site). The picture on this page is out-dated; one no longer 'submits a request', but now one would 'Submit a Ticket'; the Categories (in Choosing a Category) are now: I Can't Log In, Update account information, In-Game Issue, Purchase Issue, Technical Issue, Original Guild Wars. If this page is supposed to show what one would see on the actual web-form/site page, it would be very confusing. (There is also a bug that some players encounter, where the redirect doesn't work, and instead gives an error stating the Certificate is invalid, and the website is insecure [I get this bug; there are also some reports/threads/posts about it on the forum]. It only occurs when using the link(s) on the forum pages; any other site page's Support links don't encounter the error.) Inculpatus cedo (talk) 21:49, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
