Talk:Shift beyond reality to confront the crazed doppelganger

Potentially the Doppelganger is attracted to Commanders. I've heard reports on Reddit as well as a personal experience while leading a bounty train of 45 people. Could be worth investigating. --71.168.146.129 21:02, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Event failure on hunted's death?[edit]

Based on my own experience it seems the statement "Death of the hunted character, or the character leaving the event radius, will result in failure and a new event will begin with a new target." isn't correct.

I was "lucky" to be the chosen one (yay I got promoted to Legendary :P) and during the event I died twice (I had a bad timing to be near a quicksand when it spawned), then I had to waypoint out to respawn and it was a bit far from where the event was happening. On all these times the event didn't fail, it was still "me" when I arrived back, and we were even able to finish it and the legendary me got defeated :P --Txon Atana - (talk) 13:21, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Link/Trivia to Guild Wars (1) Doppelganger?[edit]

Should there be a mention/link about the similarities/callback to the Augury Rock mission from Guild Wars 1? In Prophecies, the objective was to defeat the doppelganger of the player solo and whose build (skills bar) was determined copying the player's upon spawning. We've got a link on the Doppelganger's page. --Idris (talk) 05:38, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Defeating Doppel Grants a Temporary Downed Skill Item???[edit]

My mesmer character just finished killing her Doppelganger in Elon Riverlands. She walked over an invisible item near where the doppel was killed that allowed her to interact ("Pick Up") with it. She did so and was granted the mesmer #1 down skill Mind Blast as a single-weapon-skill "equipped" item. She does not appear to be holding anything although she is in a ready-to-fight position. When it is used she assumed the fighting downed position during the casting time. She was able to drop and pick up the item multiple times, even while leaving the area where the item was dropped (out of the way so no one else picked it up) for 10 minutes . Another player's character was able to pickup the item when I dropped it and was granted his profession's #1 down skill. She was able to run and use the skill at the same time (looked a bit like she was bowling) but the skill did no damage while running. Kept the "item" after gliding, using a mount or using a waypoint in Elon Riverlands. Lost the item when using Invitation to "Lily of the Elon".

Note: You do not need the legendary doppelganger to be your clone to get the achievement. Killing your elite or veteran clone that would be summoned by the boss suffices. That's how I got it. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Leo Xander (talk) at 16:02, 14 May 2021‎ (UTC).
